MTB Night rides anyone?

Postby higg » Sat Jan 16, 2010 12:42 pm

It's the new year, the snow's gone, is anyone interested in an MTB night ride this Thursday (21 Jan) now that it's normal January weather. Usual time, meet 7pm to leave at 7.15, approx 1.5-2 hrs.

I'll probably be there. Looks like we might not have seen the last of the snow though; heavy falls predicted in some areas for Wednesday...

Not to worry Mike, there's always next week.

There was 3 of us this evening, Keith (on his first proper night ride), Bob and myself. Without the trail meister Marco, we decided to keep it simple and head over towards Croham Hurst and then Farleigh direction.

What is it about night rides but every night the trails seem different.

Tonight, most of the trails were covered in broken up mud, kind of like a herd of cattle had just been through, must have been some after-effects of the snow. We did a lap of Croham Hurst where Bob turned home early, Keith and myself headed up to Farleigh slipping and sliding up the singletrack at the side of the road. Once down through Pulpets wood, time was getting on so we turned at Forestdale and headed back to croydon with the now almost obligatory detour thro s****y Hills and Lloyd Park. Dealextreme lights, good enough for two people, I spent most of the ride using Keith's light just by riding in front of him.
