MOUNTAINBIKE CROSS-COUNTRY RACING – organised by the Structureless Tyranny of Beastway under BC regulations

U8, u10 & U12 MTB SC race 14:30 – duration 15 minutes
Adult categories MTB XC 15:00 – duration 60 minutes
Youth categories MTB XC 15:20 – duration 40 minutes

Single and combined event prize list to be won.

With the Eastway (the Lee Valley Cycle Circuit) closing at the end of October 2006 to make way for London’s Olympic Park riders want to celebrate over 30 years of racing and riding there. All riders are welcome.

Lee Valley Youth CC, in conjunction with Team Economic Energy has brought the pleasure and progress of riding to many young people from the E London area. Members have gone on to enjoy success in the sport and its dvelopment squad has many riders currently at the highest level in youth competitions.
The Eastway Supporters’ League has run regular racing over many years for adult road riders, with a committed core of organisers and officials from London and Essex cycle clubs who have made the sport thrive at Eastway.
Beastway is the country’s largest weekly series of mountain bike races. It may be surprising to learn that E London has a mountain-biking facility and that Eastway has produced national champions in this Olympic sport, with over 200 riders regularly turning out to race each Wednesday evening.

These organisations want to work together to welcome all riders, old and new to the circuit for a final celebration of cycle sport at Eastway.

All events will be fully insured under BC regulations.

What of Eastway’s future? - Following extensive consultation with users, a relocation of this cycle sport facility to Hog Hill in Hainault is agreed to take place during 2007, with some provision in the Royal Docks in the interim. The London Development Agency has taken a lot of trouble to ensure that those who do Olympic Sport in E London can continue to be amongst the country’s best riders. In the meantime;-

The Lee Valley Youth CC is making its way to Highams Park School.

Eastway Supporters League will organise road racing in the Royal Docks from spring 2007

Beastway will have to run a limited event in Hainault Forest Country Park

This event will have high profile in local media and national cycle media as an era of riding in London comes to an end, with the sport having to look forward to new venues and the London Games in only six years time.

I think that I may go for the two events too; two hours recovery for the mountain bike race doesn't seem unreasonable. Although there is a cyclo-x race at East Grinstead the next day...

I suppose I shall now have to fix the bottom bracket on my MTB this year instead of leaving it until 2007!

Yeah and get that chain back on this time! (heard it dropped at the Eway cx).

I spoke to another couple people considering doing both events, should be a good laugh. Should be quite busy too, they've advertised in on Singletrack and Evans is sponsoring it.
