Racing Bike 54cm Spares or Repair (FS)

Wanted - a home for my original but now somewhat tired racing bike.... Nearly sold before Christmas but buyer was too busy to collect! On offer again as I'm still trying to declutter the house as and when the mood grabs me...
54cm Ambrosio Stelvio carbon road-bike; originally built in 1998 (by GB cycles), Ultegra 9-speed, Mavic hand-built wheels (open 4 CD). Bike has been involved in some interesting races, including riding alongside the cream of UK-riders on the Isle of Wight in 2003, the Surrey League Revolutions in 2003 and won stage 3 of the Surrey League Cat 2/3 Jaunts in 2003. Unused since early 2004.
Known issues:
Cables rub on frame;
Rear STI only working for three of nine gears;
Hoods have gone sticky (presumably due to reaction with some cleaning product / age - in the same way old washing up gloves do!)
Chain too short;
Overhaul / significant service needed;
May be suitable as a cross-bike as a general hack bike or even spares / repair.
£55 ono. Or please let me know of any respectable charities that can make use of old bikes...
