[quote="Marek"]Andrew, circuits are dull, I think we should try to make it at least a bit interesting so people actually come back for a bit more.
I agree Hillingdon is not going to get anyone too excited but my thoughts were based purely on:
a) ease to put on for organiser(s) including any marshaling and back up support needed.
b) open to as many people as possible as this is normally what a club event tends to be based around to dip a toe from where they can take it further if they like it.
c) spectator friendly.
Personally I ain't running unless sprint means 100m so you can all kill yourselves up the wall numerous times if you like. I expect your original loop may have been a touch tongue in cheek for toughness, but if it is too hard then the competitors will most likely be Paul and Carl (who competed in the World Age Group Championships), some strong training group people who run like Sylv and Stu, and then a handful of others who already run and cycle but most likely get their backsides kicked and get stranded on a big strung out road circuit. I think that would be more off-putting than an uninteresting circuit. If it looks like it could take off then it could be moved next year, like the road race champs that moved from Hillingdon to Horne. Making the bike leg more TT than road circuit you could have the runs based around Holmwood (possibly in the National Trust area) with the bike leg on the Holmwood 10 course. Anything like this would obviously need approval though as I'm pretty certain you need clearance for the time and date you want to race on the course from the police.
Also if you don't use a recognised circuit (such as Horne) then are there not implications concerning police permission which may also include time restrictions (both at what time you are allowed to race and for how long you are allowed to run a race on the road), race warning road signs, and various other bits of red tape and paperwork?
