Club Run Sat 11 Dec 2010

On road, off road, round in a big circle or down to the coast, we do the lot. We don't just do it at all speeds and for all levels, we do it Agreeably as well!

[quote="Paul H"]Lee - you make it sound so bad.

:D
There was a point in the ride where the only thing slightly more painful than I was feeling at the time would be having my gonads vigorously rubbed with a cheesegrater.
That aside I did enjoy the ride and will have another bash next week.

 Brilliant write up Lee very funny

Believe it was you i towed back along the chipstead valley road briefly. Well done for trying the training group, sure is a big jump up from the 19's, but i suppose as Ant says it only gets easier with practice! The riding doesn't get easier you just get quicker right? nice write up.

I missed the 9pm early morning start again and headed out gone 11am for a quick blast up the Chipstead Valley Road towards Box Hill. Seeing the remnants of the training group coming the other way as I approached the rise just before Kingswood, i decided to call it a day and head for the buzz of the brilliant Nonna Rossa's cafe and a bit of banter about the state of the roads further out into the sticks after not getting on my pedal bike for what seems like ages.

Really was mild out there today and hope the more inclement weather continues allowing for more weekend escapades out of the metropolis.
May even give the road to Box Hill another stab tomorrow, weather permitting.

continued...

Well, F**K it,the responsibility, the responsibility, I just had to go back and find our abandoned Russian friend. Brian, Lindsay, Alan and Sam all volunteered to come with me - thanks fellas - it's the Agreeable way.

The usual puncture repair fiasco...

1. couldn't get any air in the tube. really tight tyre - difficult to remove.
2. stripped out inner type and filled it with air.fine. checked tyre walls. fine.
3. refitted inner tube. pumped up.fine. then pulled the valve off. Specialized long valve. don't buy them - the worst inner tubes ever made in the history of the world. it's official.
4. stripped out faulty inner tube. fitted new one. couldn't pump it up. Alan's pump not working, then it was (just not fitted properly). etc etc

finally got going after about 45 mins - we laughed and laughed - you know the sort of thing: you've got a little pump , your pump technique's crap, it's getting hard, it's coming, your pump's not working, there's nothing wrong with my pump it's the way your holding it - a sort of collective hysteria.

nearly home and Mikel punctured again!! no inner tubes left - he's got wider than usual tyres: 28mm. we'd had enough. we decided to give up and abandoned Mikel to walk to Salfords for the train. Remember the Cold War! we jeered as we cycled off sick of being nice. :D

Sorry to her about your mums fall Andrew, hope she has a speedy recovery and is being spoilt and looked after

Going back to the gap between the 19's and the training group it maybe worth Jon giving a shout out for a B training group just to see if there's any interest. There's more than enough 19's riders capable of a little bit more. I would be more than happy to lead it from time to time, I'm all for people wanting to improve their speed and fitness and that are willing to push themselves that little bit harder.

Go on, give it a try, you never know you may even enjoy it. :D
