B Group

On road, off road, round in a big circle or down to the coast, we do the lot. We don't just do it at all speeds and for all levels, we do it Agreeably as well!

B Group

Paul H did a good job of organising and laying down a system from CSS onwards that worked very well except a slight blip at Reigate which worked its way out a couple of miles down the road. I wasn't feeling particularly marvellous this morning so my time on the front came to a total of 150 yards with the rest of the time spent hanging on to wheels. Andy's in particular because he was the only one with mudguards.
All the work was done by Anthony , Darren , Andy and Mark (whose name I hope I've got right , if not then please correct me) and they set of very good pace . It was so good I showed my full appreciation by dropping off around Rusper. The A group came by shortly afterwards with Paul and Keith playing steam trains with the rest of the group 20 or so seconds behind. In fact the pace of the four remaining B group members was so good I think they kept the gap between the groups.

I think it went off very well and hopefully will become a permanent fixture.

Glad to hear you "enjoyed" yourself Lee.

It was a surprisingly good turnout for the B group. The feedback I got was that it worked quite well and it can only get better as you get fitter and more organised.

Getting faster is all about consistency so if you want to improve you have to be there every week.

Enjoyed this today - was the hardest I have ridden to the dual carriage-way for a while. I think the 'chase' should start from the other side of Reigate though as there are too many variables such as traffic lights on the way out?

Yes, the B Group was great this morning - really enjoyed it. Thanks to the rest of the B Group and also what I assume is the A Group when we joined up for TnO down the dual carriageway. Thanks also to everyone involved in making the B Group happen.

A confidence booster for me in humming or haaing whether I could hack the pace - I'm up for more of this - see you next Saturday.

Sounds great. Sorry I missed it, weather looked very changeable first thing - Mrs Dombo dropped the little lad off so I could have come after all - and when the sun came out at 0950 I was kicking myself. Hope to be out next week, for however far I can hang on for :D

Some good positive feed back. Thanks to Paul for setting this up, looks like we could finally be on to a winner here with the B group at last.

I think Darren's idea of starting the chase after Reigate is more sensible as we hit every set of lights on red on the way out meaning the A group caught us quickly. After a regroup we had a minutes head start. Some good work from Darren, Andy W, Mark F and myself meant we stayed away till just shy of the DC, great effort guys.Sorry to those that felt the pace a little and dropped off but keep hanging in there, it gets easier...honest.

I think the B's will work if the stronger riders maintain the pace leaving those just coming up from the 19's a little time to get used to the increase in pace without launching themselves into the red and burning out to soon by trying to do to many turns on the front.

All in all though a great start, lets keep up the momentum guys.

PS Just looked at some figures, no wonder I feel like I've had a work out today, my avg HR was 166, my highest was 205  which I hit when I attacked Paul H, Sylv Steve B and co on the drag back to Coulsdon. , a figure Ive not seen for over a year and never care to again quite frankly. Me and my stupidly high heart rate.

Not sure how the chase can start at Reigate especially with Dan "thermonuclear" laying down a very healthy pace as soon as we leave CSS.

Paul's ideas, so he deserves the praise. :D

Hopefully more Gordon & Percy than Annie & Clarabel?

 I topped out at 186 today, not far off my maximum.

Once you get organised, perhaps you could help the A's do the same ;-)

Sounds like it was all good work - well done everyone involved.
