Its straight down the A23 to Gatwick and back.

Well, that was fine - obviously I was almost immediately dropped, so just rode for 40 mins in the direction of Gatwick, then rode 40 mins back to CSS. It was rather nice - but I'm no good at trying to ride fast on my own, as I keep forgetting to. About 18 group pace. It would be great to get together with other aspiring plodders to form a Tuesday night 'progress group' (yes, sounds remedial) as I'm sure we could knock out a fair pace by rotating - it would definitely improve my fitness. Anyone??

I'll try and join you, Phil - not had too much enthusiasm for going out at the mo and I can't really cope with going out more than once (maybe twice if I'm mentally prepared as well as physically ) That's socially as well as on the bike... And as for going out two evenings in a row...

Will try and see you next Tuesday. Keeping a steady pace would be handy and not going quite eyeballs out for me from CSS down to the m-way junction would also help...

That's fine Amy - I'm nowhere near even B group standard, but I HAVE to get properly fit for the summer. I can't go fast from CSS either, but can build up to a reasonable pace once warmed up. I know there are many like me and we could, collectively, improve a lot doing this 90 min stint regularly through the spring

Phil, I should be back in CG next week. I can manage 18mph average to Gatwick and back if this speed suits you.

Ok - an 'improvers' chaingang! I intend to make it on Tuesdays from now on, barring torrential rain etc. I'm sure Saturday riding will really benefit if we can get this together.

OK, Phil, sign me up for that one - initially you don't have to worry about going fast - just getting some decent miles in and building up strength and stamina and then as we feel like it we can step up to the Bs and see how we do...
