CLUB RUN SAT 19th MARCH 2011 - RUN LIST

On road, off road, round in a big circle or down to the coast, we do the lot. We don't just do it at all speeds and for all levels, we do it Agreeably as well!

Sunshine again and no rain!!! What's happening!!

Went out with the 18s yesterday. Funny day for me. Never felt really good and found it hard to recover after making any kind of effort! :( Anyway, it was a largish group of a dozen or so, although as it turned out, for various reasons, only about half a dozen really did any work. On Alan M's suggestion most of us went down to the dual carriage-way for a bit of through and off. Worked well until Sam, Lucy and I had to wait at a roundabout and then had to ride like crazy to get back on. Sam and I did a pull each but we lost Lucy (whose legs had fallen off). I was cooked and dropped off the back. Got to the cafe with an average 18.2 mph on the clock.

A 'social ride' home via Boxhill with Ghaleb, Martin, JohnCz, Tim, Claire, Ron, Mikel, Marcus, Sam and others. Climbed Box about 2 kph slower than usual but still manage to get to the top 4th I think, but after a brief chat and a rest I just couldn't get going again. Nothing in the legs. Lost the group so Sam and I descended into Betchworth and got back to Redhill via Woodhatch. Home having done 97 kms (60 miles) at 26.6 kph (16.5 mph) but must confess the whole day was a bit of a struggle. Perhaps too much red wine the night before?  Still great fun as usual. Thank you one and all. :D

Went out with Del's Sunday group today (I'll let him do the formal write-up). After a cold, grey looking start the weather really picked up nicely. Across "the back route" from CSS to Little Switzerland, then Westhumble, Ranmore (where we picked up another Phil just in case), down Whitedown, up Abinger Lane, Leith Hill Road. Made a nice change do that in the sunshine after the Spring Onion last week where the Leith Hill descent was in cloud and the rain was coming down. On a day like today, those roads are really nice.

Pretty flat after that - Ockley, Newdigate and down to Taphouse Farm where we managed to get seats inside for tea and cake. Or in one case a full on meal with pie (not me). Went back via Box with Ant and Ben.
