Ride to test the Hill Climb hills - Sun 25th

On road, off road, round in a big circle or down to the coast, we do the lot. We don't just do it at all speeds and for all levels, we do it Agreeably as well!

Ride to test the Hill Climb hills - Sun 25th

Postby Andrew G » Wed Sep 21, 2011 9:37 pm

This Sunday, 25th Sept, I will be going for a ride out to the Catford and Bec Hill Climb hills for a test run should anyone wish to join me. It won't be complicated, just a spin out to Ide and a couple of test runs up the Catford hill and then over to Titsey for a couple of test runs up the Bec hill.

Have a shufty in the Racing section for details of these classic hill climb events, if you want to race then you need to get your entries to the organisers by Tuesday.

Meet at Lloyd Park car park, which is on Coombe Rd next to the tram stop at 9.30am. The ride to and from the hills will be a simple spin affair and not a charge about. It's not a long ride but it's something a bit different with a spin through some nice lanes, and the chance to test ride the hills if you're thinking of entering the races.

Whether you want to do the races or not then it's worth sticking the 9th October in your diary to ride out and watch the hill climbs as the atmosphere is fantastic and they make a good day out.

Anyone? A spin in some lanes with a few vomit inducing blasts up a couple of steep hills, fun :D .

Bu**er. I'm still in Greece otherwise I would have brought Matt up for the day.
Never mind, hope you can gear up something like this for the Saturday before race day.
Cheers,
John.
ps. Are you riding them both Andrew?

Hi Andrew - sounds like a different ride... How long do you think you might be out? I need to be back in Purley by midday - is that too soon if I were to join you?

Afraid it might be a bit tight to be back for midday, probably nearer 1 with the test runs of the hill climbs.

Was Just me, after a brief chat with Sylv at Lloyd Park who was giving his CX bike a spin and fettle.

I forgot how hard they are! Ouch, burning lungs! Those 25% ramps are a kiler.

Ian, if you go through Ide Hill village and to the B2042, then turn left on to that. At the brow of the little climb is a signpost for entering Goathurst Common and where that sign is a small lane branches off to the right. Follow that and Yorks Hill is on your right. To be honest if you go through Ide Hill village you'll find it easy enough by following cyclists, once you take the right branch at the Goathurst Common sign then that lane will be choca-block with riders and cars parked up on it.

If you come through Hever and past Bough Beech Reservoir then you can climb up it :) .
