Season of Mists and Mellow Fruitfulness - Sat 1/10/11

On road, off road, round in a big circle or down to the coast, we do the lot. We don't just do it at all speeds and for all levels, we do it Agreeably as well!

Season of Mists and Mellow Fruitfulness - Sat 1/10/11

This weekend looks to be defying the seasons so let's make hay....

Having been reminded that there were one or two who wanted to do this route, I will be leading a ride at strong 18 plus level (no sniggering at the back) down to Brighton, along the coast to Newhaven and then home through Lewes and the Ashdown Forest. The route takes in plenty of lovely lanes and we will of course stop for lunch, most likely in Lewes, although if we get good numbers it may have to be Brighton.

Meet at Nona's at 0830 sharp (or earlier if you fancy a quick espresso). I guess we will roll by CSS at 0835.

From past experience we will not get back to Coulsdon or Purley until around 4pm.

[edit: this is on Saturday not Sunday as originally titled]

A final point.

I am away for the rest of this week and will not have access to a computer so please don't ask any questions as I will not be able to answer them (until Friday night).

Indeed. Saturday 1st is the day. Sorry. If an admin guy can change the heading that would be appreciated. Apologies again.

Cheers Tim (Nick) for a great route today, that was an awesome ride. We went to Brighton via Slugwash Lane and over Ditchling, was a beautiful view with a nice mist lying across the new Brighton Stadium. Then down on the coast and along to Newhaven and then in land to Lewes which looked beautiful bathed in sunshine. Stopped for a great lunch, Spaghetti Ragu with a great ice cream with espresso. Nick went for a cheese board and was then trying to persuade the rest of us to eat it for him.

Ride back from Lewes took some great lanes to end up on the Barcombe road race circuit and then over to Piltdown and up into Ashdown Forest. Down the Wall and into Forest Row and then back up into East Grintead for me. The others had to then head off to Croydon, hope you all got back ok.

Awesome ride 165km on the clock. We certainly seized the day.

Cheers

Just to add my thanks to Nick, as well, great route.
Marek thanks for the tow through Forest row/EG, just made it home in time. Though i was no use in the game, we lost 3-1.

Yes, a really enjoyable ride and equally good company. Even Burak turns out to be a nice guy after all.

I left Rich and Steve to push on from Forest Row. I was going to get a train from East Grinstead but fortunately there were engineering works so I finished the route (and myself).

It seems the weather is set to change but what a bonus it has been.....

Nick, sorry I forgot to mention the engineering works to you, but that Viper boost bar you scoffed down should have kicked in by the time you got to East Grinstead, so I imagine you blasted back to civilisation.

Cheers
