CLUB RUN WEEK 15th OCT 2011

On road, off road, round in a big circle or down to the coast, we do the lot. We don't just do it at all speeds and for all levels, we do it Agreeably as well!

Dear Agreeables

Well, we're all trained up - excellent First Aid Course - hard work but very worthwhile. We just need to buy some first aid kits and we're ready to rock. I'm not out this Saturday as I have to work!   So will be out with Del on the Sunday CR - maybe see some of you there. Forgot to mention earlier that it's the ACC Road Race at Hillingdon on Saturday.

Cheers

Jon

Good ride today :D Felt like I was creeping a bit nearer the 18s.... Just lack the strength to keep pushing up the hills at the mo  though I was keeping up quite well with the 17s, even dropping them now and again. I was even told that the ride out from CSS was a bit brisk  but it was only Alex complaining

Actually one guy in my group told me he had an average of 17.7mph from CSS down to Rusper golf course which makes me wonder what the second 17 group was doing to catch us up just there...

It's good to get back on the club run route now and again just to see how I'm doing - I may yet be able to start hiding in the 18s before Christmas, fingers (and everything else crossed...) 8)

Not out tomorrow - must tidy flat up a bit (again) - but means I can save myself for the Tuesday chaingang (will put a bit more info on the chaingang post sometime).

Yep it was a nice spin out this morning, except for Lucy who's gear cable broke (ripped a nipple off  , ouch) just outside CSS. Hope you got home okay spinning along.

Back out on the fixed and a good ride out and chat at the cafe, before setting off early with Ant and Peter to get home early. Definitely autumn this morning with the frost and early nip in the air.

I was certainly up for a blast this morning, but the blast didn't last long as I shifted up a gear just after the first roundabout . . . and my pedals jammed. Apologies to all behind as I wobbled, unclipped, panicked, shifted, slightly freed it and got to the side of the road.
Phone call to The Husband . . .

. . . half an hour later and I was back on the road. A mad women on a mission to Charlwood!

Arrived, grabbed a very quick cuppa, and managed to twist Marcus's arm and get some company to Boxhill. We caught up with Paul, it was his first time out with Addiscombe, and seemed nice . . . apart from calling me a maniac (but thats another story!)

All in all a good day (nipple now sorted) :D

Wow, well done for getting going again and finishing the ride you set out on Lucy. Top marks to Jamie too, his brownie point tally must be well in credit!

Forgot to say that if anyone wants an early spin tomorrow then I'm riding out to Holmwood to offer some support to the ACC teams in the Redmon GP. I'll be passing CSS at 8am tomorrow if anyone wants to tag along - pace will be about 18s and I'll be on fixed so fairly direct route as I'm not spinning my bits off down Pebble Hill :) .

SUNDAY CR 16.10.11

Postby Jon C C on a Bianchi » Sun Oct 16, 2011 7:19 pm

Well only four of us were hard enough and brave enough to face the first bit of cold weather this autumn. Shame on the rest of you wimps! 6 degrees - it was positively balmy

Anyway, Del took us - Ben F, Steve P, and yours truly - on a great ride to Leith Hill with a stop at Abinger Hammer Tea Rooms. The sun came out and the temperature soon soared to a respectable 14 degrees. It was a beautiful day. I was cooking as I had three shirts on + my long slacks - completely over dressed - and I had to work really hard to keep with the ferocious pace set by Ben and Steve. To add to my discomfiture - my new YB shorts weren't working properly as the pad kept working into my bum crack! An odd feeling to say the least!

Ben (topless) getting ready to tuck into his cranberry and pecan cake. Delicious. Note the huge teapot! 8)

Ride leader Del doing same as Steve plunges the cafetiere. :D

Steve went for the fruit cake option. cafetiere oddly still unplunged.

Me, Ben and Steve. New Addiscombe kit with red and grey sleeves? Nice touch. Might suggest at next committee meeting. Note the nice china - cup and saucer no less!

We were running late so decided to head back via the A25. Steve and Ben headed off to Box Hill at Dorking and Del and I continued on. We got to Betchworth and managed to lose each other. I phoned Del but his phone was switched off  . Home by 1.20 - 75 kms @ 25 kph. Thanks fellas - great ride, good company, nice weather, really enjoyed it. :D

I'ts a regular for CTC W.Surrey, we normally have Breakfast there, The Lady owner is really kind, once the loo's were out of order due to a flood, and so she let us use the private quarters above the rooms, she also keeps Hens nearby, so all her egg's are free range, its a really nice joint, ( including interesting crockery - if your into that kind of thing) :D
