So I stepped up to the mark and started getting the groups out. As the numbers went down I could see a slight problem appearing - namely I was the slowest VC there and there seemed to be quite a lot of riders still left after the 17s had gathered - too big to go out as one group. Also there were 3 new guys out who hadn't ridden in a group before. So I figured the 16s could take care of themselves and led the 15s. Bit of split in abilities but mostly stayed together but at Parkgate I took the stronger ones - namely the new guys - Olly, Ian and George and also Marcus (who's not new, just not been out much lately - off via Norwood Hill, Charlwood and Rusper. Marcus told me he was almost on the rivet but I thought he was riding quite well and only dropped off on the hills. Admittedly the pace picked up quite a bit after the split... I managed to hang on.
After the café stop I decided that I would drag myself up Box, mostly to make sure the new guys made it back ok! They seemed to enjoy the ride and might even come back next week for the Brighton ride
