New Year's Eve Pub Ride.

On road, off road, round in a big circle or down to the coast, we do the lot. We don't just do it at all speeds and for all levels, we do it Agreeably as well!

New Year's Eve Pub Ride.

Postby Andrew G » Mon Dec 13, 2010 1:48 pm

It's that time of year again :D.

This is a social ride and open to everyone (if below 17s rider then see "Note" at bottom*).

It will follow the same format as previous years which for newcomers is as follows:

9.30am departure from outside GBs

A social ride of about 30-35 miles which takes in a few hills - Do not be put off by this as everyone will be waited for, it's a festive ride and if people ride off the front then they'll be the one on their own :) . I don't know which route I will go yet but will fill in some blanks nearer the time.

The route will be primarily lanes so some of it may have to be modified if it's icy /snowy / flooded, other than that only a grim very rainy day stops play or if we are in the grips of another ice age.

The ride "finishes" at the White Bear pub (http://www.the-whitebear.com/) and we should get there about 12 although this will obviously depend on who turns up and what the pace is, if we are a bit ahead of time then I can easily add a bit on. It has a couple of open fires, good beer and good food. Lunch and a beer or two and then a spin back home.

If you plan on coming please let me know, there's no commitment but if numbers look like they are going to be above about a dozen then I'll call the pub and try and reserve a corner.

*Note: There will be a hill or two to climb but anyone from the 17s would be fine. If you do not yet ride at 17s level then send me a pm and I can fill you in on some more details nearer the time.

Well, I said I'd go up to the inlaws in North Wales. Unless I absolutely have to come on this ride because you need a quorum of VCs to comply with clubs rules and in that case I'd have to skip the Wales trip because ...

It's not going to work, is it.

Oh, count me in by the way, but I may need to have a handicap start as I've only done a couple 17's all year and have had to attend two lunches and two dinners this week!

I did this last year, it was great fun, it was nice to get together with riders you don't normally ride with. Truly an ACC family affair. In addition the White Bear is a fabulous pub with great staff.
Hope to be there again and as I haven't ridden with or seen you for a while Roy it will be great to see you there.

I got the nod today for some free time so put my name down for a couple of triples at the White Bear.

According to those wise folk at the met office then hopefully it will have warmed up enough to melt the ice.

Being someone who very rarely gets colds I'm getting them all at once with my second just a week to a fortnight after shifting the last one  . Hopefully I'll be okay for the ride but may have to give it a miss. I'll post if that's the case but with a bit of luck someone else will be able to lead a route if need be as there's no reason to call it off for all just because I have a cold.

Bummer, Andrew - you sure it's not the same one come back?

Someone said it was due to snow tonight but I can just see rain on the forecast maps.

Hope the cold shifts before Friday.
