Of course, if it is a day of rain and just looking miserable, I won't be out... especially on the Sunday if I've been out on the Saturday

IMO: 20mph should be what it says on the tin. TGB should be "as fast as possible". TGV would be a train group I suppose.

Great alternative ride with Pete and co.

5 things i've learned today:

1) Tulley's farm coffee is better than the "coffee" at Charlwood.
2) Regardless of whichever Addiscombe group you go out with, the standard "onlook and offer advice rather than help" with punctures remains the club standard. Chapeau.
3) Jeff's got a lot of rebuilding if he takes everyone's advice for how his bike should look.
4) Sometimes, alternative although different is the way to go.
5) Regardless of how good I "think" I am. I still can fall over whilst stationary, with one leg unclipped.

Full write up on my blog for those who are interested.......

Leisure Ride Today

A real pleasure ride meeting at Nonna Rossas for departure at 9.30am, with - Messrs. Ray, Monty, and Tim, leading us 11 out to Chipstead Valley and up to and past Little Switzerland, safely across ( A cross road ) the A217, on up to Box Hill, arriving just in time for a small downpour, so we leisurely orderd tea and cake's, did the obligatory photo call etc, sun came back out and we departed down through Kingswood with some nice mini climb's up and down to Chipstead Valley, - NR, AGAIN, just missing the then RAPID downpour, which had taken 3 of 15's as victims, ( they got it bad  ) more tea and cake's for us warm and dry leisure seeker's :D

This is an excellent ride for the totally Green / Novice Rider, a number of the Ladie's who were on their first or third time out, mentioned they were still to nervous to join the Acc 15's at present, and so this is a good step, With a Premier League Team,

Thank's to all who arranged and managed this most enjoyable ride :D
r.
Courtesy of Tim: - Distance: 23 miles; Average speed: 10.5mph; Maximum speed: 23.5mph; Punctures: 0; Rain showers: 2 at Box Hill, 1 at Coulsdon :D :D

Another big turn out for the CR and lucky with the weather. The 20 mph proved very popular with just about two dozen riders answering the call - we had to split it into a fast 20 and a steady 20! perhaps we need to introduce a 21? who are you guys? next step TGB? anyway, great to see so many doing so well. :D :D

A smallish 19 was followed by a pitifully small 18 - only 6 of us!! any 17s want to push themselves a bit harder? come on folks - you know you want to. :D

Six became three as rather strangely Darren from De Vere and his mates decided to ride off the front so Ron, Marcus and me were all that was left. Big Ron was feeling very strong after a couple of weeks off the bike and did most of the work, I helped out when I could but poor old Marcus was a bit under the weather and threatening to do 'a Tommy Simpson' so he sat on for the ride (until he found his legs to win the sprint that is!! ). We got in at a 17.5 mph average - not bad considering the head wind and having to carry Marcus.

I missed the return group as I had to adjust a rubbing rear brake - fortunately Sam (who'd ridden a 20) stayed to help his old man, bless him. So Sam pulled me along (which makes a nice change) - with a tail wind he kept it at a steady 20/21 mph - riding really strongly we (well Sam) eventually caught and passed the group up the hill over the common. Home just as it starting peeing down with Sam averaging well over 19 mph for the whole ride and me coming in at just under 18.

Strange CR really - rode down in a three and back in a two - so much for group riding - but thanks Ron, Marcus and Sam for the company. Good fun. :D
