New Year's Eve Pub Ride.

On road, off road, round in a big circle or down to the coast, we do the lot. We don't just do it at all speeds and for all levels, we do it Agreeably as well!

Probably is the same one as I had a tickly cough between "them". Not been on a bike for a fortnight now with a combination of colds and ice rink conditions here preventing commuting, feel like I'm going stir crazy.

Hurrah, the cold seems to have abated a bit and I no longer feel like I have a pillow in my head. Just a bit of tinitus now thanks to blocked ear canals so ear drops in the side of my head and lemsip in the front  I'm falling apart! Haven't been on the bike for a fortnight so will probably be the slowest out on Friday!

Route planned is 36 miles with a few hills and some nice lanes followed by lunch and a couple of pints at the White Bear. See you Friday outside GBs for a 9.30 departure. We all stay together, we all wait at the top of hills, 'tis a social ride. Plenty of time for training rides, heck I've got to start doing them soon but it can wait a day.

Some of the lanes are a bit rough in places and unlikely to have got better with the recent ice age so sensible wheels would be a surprisingly sensible choice.

If it's going to be that rough, I might be out on my tourer - and I'll definitely be the slowest. I would've been the slowest anyway without being on my heaviest bike

No need for the handicapping Amy, I only meant that it would be better if people swapped out their Shamal Ultras for something more winter road friendly.

The cold seems to have come my way  so I probably won't make it after all. I could just take all the LemSip Max in the house but don't want to risk the consequences if the drug testers turn up.

Show of hands please - leave cross tyres on cross bike, or change for my "faster"road tyres for this ride? Jamie says to leave them on rather than go through the hassle of changing them, but I think I might be too slow for everyone else.

I did this ride last year, it's mostly flat and so I recommend you dispense with changing tyres and take J's uni cycle. This will be more than capable of getting you through the ride.

It is a road ride on normal roads so you don't need cross tyres. Personally I'd change them, but if I were you I'd get Jamie to do it :D . You won't need a cross bike, I just mentioned sensible wheels so I don't get shouted at if someone ruins a £500 wheelset.

It's a different route Marcus and there are hills, the cross tyres would be noticably harder to drag up them as some are quite steep, not too long but long enough.
