CLUB RUN - NEW YEAR'S DAY 2011 - RUN LIST

On road, off road, round in a big circle or down to the coast, we do the lot. We don't just do it at all speeds and for all levels, we do it Agreeably as well!

9am .

Assuming you mean the usual 9am, getting going around 9:20, then yes, I believe that's the plan. It's what I'm working to anyway.

All and sundry! That's a fine way to talk about your clubmates  .

Good to be out again and went with Ant's 18s. Still feeling a bit huffy and puffy uphill but the last two days out on the bike have helped clear my head better than any lemsip.

Sucked wheels like a good 'un on the way out and turned off at Partridge with Kate, Ed and Hal. A quick bar by the cafe and chat with Keith as the TG turned up and we set off for home. Felt better on the way back and Hal and I set a metronomic even pace home.

Nice to see folk.

Turn up late, did he?

We had a very good ride with the Captain - and I'd never thought I'd say that! - to Westerham via Edenbridge. A few climbs but some roads I haven't been on in awhile even if we hadn't meant to take them (it is nice to drop all the way down from Rabies Heath Road rather than brake for the turn by the pub :D ). Roads were pretty quiet at first.

I was getting hungry by the time we got to Westerham and the bacon and egg sandwich went down very well :D Jon and one other - Steve? - left us to head straight along to Redhill while the rest of us headed up Botley Hill to the top where I turned off to head through Woldingham to Purley and up Foxley Lane and back down through Wallington to home. That rain was a bit smeggy - could barely see through my glasses - but it didn't dampen the effects of a good ride.

This should be the year I get my muscles back  Just got to keep pushing at it steadily. (Who's doing the Reliability Ride next week? See Sportives etc section)

Good to do something a bit different today - spur of the moment - but it worked out fine.

There IS a nice cafe in Edenbridge that welcomes cyclists - pity, along with just about everything else in the whole of Edenbridge this morning, it was closed.

We must do this again soon - perhaps as an alternative club run.

BTW Before I'm accused of taking the easy way home (and I think that was implied as we left the cafe): The A25 is very lumpy. I'd forgotten quite how lumpy. We rode together some of the way. Stephen needed to get home quick so said goodbye on the descent into Oxted as I was obviously going too slowly. I said goodbye to him on the climb out of Oxted, put the hammer down and rode the rest of the way on my own!!!

Last few miles were really hard - I crawled up the hill through Bletchingley - got a second wind but spent most of the last 30 mins retching my way to Redhill.

70 kms door to door. I got home about 12.50 and missed the rain. which was nice.

Thanks everyone - good fun and see you next week. :D 8)

Fist ride out for 6 weeks. HIghlight was the tea-cake in Westerham. Thanks Jon for ride home on A25 - you suddenly got some extra legs and didn't look back (quite literarily). I got home knackered and the wife said "right we (family) are all going for a long walk." - and I did....
