SUNDAY RIDE 2nd Jan 2011

On road, off road, round in a big circle or down to the coast, we do the lot. We don't just do it at all speeds and for all levels, we do it Agreeably as well!

Oh dear. Better have a word with Jon - we did the ride to Edenbridge today instead. He'd decided to cancel it as it was only him and myself down to go - and I've put all my kit into the wash expecting to have all day tomorrow to sort it out and I think I'll be needing my thickest longs cos it was getting pretty chilly out there today.

Ah! Good job I posted.

After a sinus operation, snow and Christmas, I'm far from TG condition. In fact, I'm not quite sure Sylv has enough handicapping options at his disposal for me to stay with him.

If there are any who want to do a New Year recovery 17/18 mph style ride, I'll aim to be there tomorrow at 9:30 as Jon had originally suggested. Andy was coming up with me to CSS, so there are 2 of us to start with.

If no interest posted tonight, then we will probably start from Reigate instead and save ourselves the ride up to CSS.

I now won't be there - sorry. As Amy says there was so little response to the Sunday ride suggestion I rode today instead and I'm utterly knackered!!! Pathetic really!!

Now who's a wuss  Some of us rode Friday and Saturday, even though we felt like we'd left our legs behind on both days!!

May have been off the cuff, but it was a good ride - did me good, I'm sure :D It's always hard at this time of year to find what places are open.

Wouldn't mind popping down to Westerham in civvies and have a look in the shops - how do I get there without a car from Hackbridge?

Another solo ride for me today
Was at the CSS at 9:15 waited 15 mins but no body showed up so I decided to do the club run on my own since it has been a while I didn't ride over 25 miles in a day!
The weather was cloudy in the beginning but then later on in the ride the sun popped and made the ride more enjoyable. On my way I saw Del on a junction waiting for Andy, we said hi and off I continued with my ride. I got to the pine cafe (it was closed) and had my bar snack that I got with me and set off to home !
It was a good 45 miles overall, I was hungry and knackered when I got home, couldn't wait to tuck into some food

Wuss? well maybe, but getting out on the CR after going to bed at 2.00, much the worse for wear, and riding 40 odd miles just ain't anywhere near close to wussy!!! I'm hard, me!

Just popped out for a short one this morning, a very nice laney, quite hilly, 27 miler (route which I've started and finished from the Swan pub in West Wickham as that would make a good meeting point for a group wanting to head out that way, very easy to add some more miles on which I'd normally do by heading down through Westerham in a Four Elms direction).

Chilly but lovely out in the sun with blue sky for a change. Took a new hill off the A21 called Charmwood Lane which is quite a long climb with a steeper section making it a fair climb up. Very quiet lanes where I was the only person or vehicle on them until Knockholt. The number of ramblers and horses outnumbered cars I saw until I was all the way back to the main Croydon Rd from the top of Titsey :) .

Quite a few cyclists out today and passed a VCL group on my way out just passed Coney Hall and then saw them again going the other way as I was heading through Knockholt, only noticed Geraldine was among their number when it was too late to call hello. Coming through Tatsfield and bumped in to and had a chat with Steve from GBs as he was heading out and rode with him to the end of the village where we went our seperate ways.

All in a very nice little ride, and an absolute joy to be back on the bike for the last three days after the colds, snow, and ice. Starting to feel like a cyclist again.

Andy arrived about a minute after you left, Ghaleb!

We rode south on the club run route and back up Russ Hill, down Partridge Lane and then up Stan Hill, until we reached....... The Fox Revived!!

Ghaleb, the coffee (and beer) at the Fox Revived were both much better than at the Pine Cafe.

Got home with just over 30 miles on the clock, which isn't a lot, but after the sinus op, snow and festive food and with 3 rides over the last week, as Mr  said, I'm starting to feel vaguely like a cyclist again! :)
