Reminder: Tuesday Chaingang

On road, off road, round in a big circle or down to the coast, we do the lot. We don't just do it at all speeds and for all levels, we do it Agreeably as well!

Things got a bit nasty once we reached the DC Del  - I foolishly let Andy get a 20m gap coming to the turn, and it took me a whole 30s or more to get back to his wheel at full gas, then it was time for my turn at the front :!:

We did a few extra roundabouts before turning back

I went hard at the front on the climbs to Redhill but what the others behind couldn't see was the grimace of pain on my face :D

Up Merstham drag I decided to try something else for a change, to go fairly easy most of the way and then hard coming to the top - thing is I'd been left at the front all the way from the lights, and I also went too early. When Andy went past as we were cresting the top I had an incredibly hard 20s getting on!

Funny but I didn't get cold last night, not even my hands - and I'm usually bad there.

Oh and I got a puncture, which with the one I found on my commuter this morning makes four in two day!

Never gone so hard up that East Surrey drag - felt like I was going to pass out at the top - looked down at the heart rate monitor to see no reading. Not sure if it was because it was cold or whether it was off the scale?

An enjoyable evening all in all despite it being freezing...!

Well done Del - looked pretty strong with the 19s last Saturday as well......

Well that was the plan, was all going quite well until last night when my knee started shouting at me it had had enough  Sylv noticed I wasn't going well, like he said we all know each other so well and notice changes in how well or not we're riding. Could barely walk on it when I got in last night. Rest now for a couple of days and see how it is saturday. For the first time for as long as I can remember I didn't enjoy being on my bike last night.

Well done to Del for sticking with us :D Was a cold night but I was sweating buckets just getting to CSS, think my thermostats gone hey wire or as Darren suggested I may be going through the menopause

Not me, I'm afraid and not for the next 2 weeks.

I haven't experienced anough pain in the chain gang, so I'm going into hospital tomorrow for a sinus operation.

There will be some septum straightening, some washing out and a bit of drainage!!

I hope to be back with an increased breathing capability in early December!! :P

I had the exact thing done a few years back and was told it would be a success if you didn't whistle whilst breathing through your nose. I still do
It did stop the large number of sinus infections I used to suffer from. Very painful if I remember
Hope it goes well for you :)

Hope it all goes well, Del!

Can't stand that whistling I get when I'm trying to breathe with a cold - it's not just hearing it but feeling it too. Yeah, my colds always go into my sinuses - last one felt like someone was trying to chisel my face off. First day off sick for over a year and a half too :x

Looks like anyone out tonight will be needing the thermajock

Believe me, I don't think there would be a shortage of buyers for a thermabra

Quiet night in the end, just Dan G, Serge, Ghaleb, Ilaya , Phil H and yours truly. The initial excitement and enthusiasm has waned a little somewhat.

We all stuck together and got a T&O going which being a small group was working well till Phil got an attack of the cramps and went home for an early shower.

Ilaya blew up a little on the way back but recovered well to hang on back to CSS despite us turning the heat up a bit and upping the pace. Ghaleb put in some good turns and will be riding stronger in no time.

Hats off to Serge for encouraging Ilaya and Ghaleb to keep working hard and chase Dan and myself down on the return run up the Merstham drag, no easy task especially when Dan put the hammer down, even I struggled to hold his wheel

Good ride thanks guys, nice and safe and a reasonable workout. Cheers :D
