Reminder: Tuesday Chaingang

On road, off road, round in a big circle or down to the coast, we do the lot. We don't just do it at all speeds and for all levels, we do it Agreeably as well!

Where did Ghaleb get that jet engine from, I was in bits by the end?!!

Thanks lads, that was one of the most savage CGs I have ever done, i spent most of the time with my teeth gritted and holding on for dear life. Ghaleb went hard from the second we rolled out of CSS and like Sylv, I was wondering when he was finally going to tire, unfortunately that moment never came and the pace up the Merstham drag was relentless.

Got home and collapsed on the sofa, fortunately Becks managed to bring me back to life with food and beer!

Same again next Thursday?!

Same again next Thursday?!

Doubt there will be too many more people queuing to join

To be fair Matt, from the start I noticed you didn't seem to be going quite as well as usual. Last week it was me who was in bits at the end.

Thursday is ideal for me with a race on Sunday

Sounds like you guys had fun on Thursday. Unfortunately I can't join you for a few more weeks.

Ghaleb, seriously what's the secret? :D

It must be my wife's home made Lasagna!

To be fair I probably had a bit of an advantage, with Sylv probably smashing it all week to prepare for the up coming race, and Matt probably just wasn't in the mood.

I might be up for this again next week, will confirm closer to the date.

We've been doing 7.40 as I think it was Rich's train arrival time, let's keep it at that. Looking ok for tonight, though my legs say they won't mind a medium-savage workout today. See you there.

I don't know about that! your legs were going and going non-stop today.

It was just three of us today, after a few miles Richard decided to call it a day as I think the pace was a bit too much for him. I knew by then that it was going to be a hard ride with Sylv in the mood. On the second half of the ride I was barley hanging on Sylv's wheel and gladly left him to do most of the work. My legs were shattered by the time we reached Merstham drag and I had to slow down, but Sylv just kept ploughing on like a field horse!

Good training overall, are we up for the same next week?

Thanks for the workout guys , I think I know where I'm at now , and it's a long way short ! It was just too fast for me tonight and I didn't want to spoil your ride , so I thought it best to turn back early ands let you 2 burn each others legs ! Thanks for the insight though . I think I'll concentrate on getting stronger for now and try and join you again in the spring !

See what happens when you don't have your lasagna Ghaleb

Sorry Richard if it wasn't a pleasant experience. Prob best to start off with the Saturday TG- more people to hide behind, and pace not as relentless.

A good one last night - felt ok and norm power for the 50min after Richard turned off 5.2

Would be up for next week if we do it on Tuesday instead?

It seems you had some lasagna yesterday!

5.2 w/kg? I'm not very good with wattage but that means that your av. power was almost 300w? I just extrapolated that from your previous posted results. That is pretty high over a period of 50 min considering a typical average of lets say 4.3w/kg (for a body wt. of 75kg)?

Well, as it turns out I have today realised that my (new) Powertap has been over-reading, I don't think from the start but I think gradually over the three weeks I've had it. Seems to make sense as I have had 20w increases in the averages from week 1 to week 3 of the chaingang.

I have had to re-calibrate it as it was reading 25-30w just when freewheeling at 40km/h (the faster you freewheel the more it was reading). So as an assumption last night's normalised power of 299 should be a more reasonnable 275w, or 4.8w/kg. We'll check this next week : )

No I just had a banana and honey sandwich.
