REGULAR SUNDAY CLUB RUNS START FEB 2011

On road, off road, round in a big circle or down to the coast, we do the lot. We don't just do it at all speeds and for all levels, we do it Agreeably as well!

Back to the hilly stuff this Sunday.

9:30 at CSS, then off we go down the CR route to Leigh, then across to Holmwood and Dorking before the hilly stuff starts! :)

Up through Coldharbour and Leith Hill, dropping down to Holmbury St Mary, Holmbury Hill, Peaslake, Hoe Lane, Raikes Lane, White Down, Ranmore Common, Westhumble, Box Hill and back towards CSS.

About 50 miles all in. Possible cafe stops at Peaslake outdoors with the MTB guys for one of their fabulous cheese straws (warm of course), or we can detour to Shere if not so warm and stop at the Lucky Duck and there's always the option of a further refuel at the top of Box.

If the weathers good and people are keen, we could even throw in a bonus loop of Pitch Hill at Peaslake, but we'll see how its going and how people feel on the day.

Hope to see lots out. Great countryside and some good lanes.

I should be there, i know a similar route that i took Serge and a few others on a few weeks ago, could take you on that if you want, would involve going out via Kingswood way up around the back of Box Hill, taking the route around the bottom and then into the hills. I know a couple more on your route which are great, in an evil kind of way.

Cheers

Would that be through Walton, Ebbisham Lane, Headley and Little Switzerland?

Quite happy to go that way, It's a lot prettier than the A23! :)

I like the Ebbisham Lane route. For maximum evil, you need to go CSS, Chipstead Valley and up Portnalls Lane. Then you can add evil by going down Little Swizterland, across the A24 through Westhumble and up Ranmore then through Dorking and pick up Coldharbour Lane.

Might join you but not been well these past few days. Ought to do some training for this 100 on the 29th - why did I sign up for that again?

Hallelujah! If I wasn't so cooked after today's effort I'd join you, I loved the fact that we didn't touch the A23 on the Sunday ride I came out on a couple of weeks ago. Have a good one.

Unfortunately I should be joining you in the morning Del, unfortunately as the 50 I was meant to be doing, and was one of my main target races has been cancelled. ed off to say the least :x .

I'll probably flick off at some point as I don't think I'll do a cafe stop and want to get some faster hard miles in so will probably come with you to the cafe stop and then clear off and hurt my legs somewhere so if I don't get to let you know at the time and I've suddenly vanished that'll be why.

I'd guess about 10:10, so if you're there about 10 you should be ok. Suggest you meet us at the Cock Inn.

That was fun, cheers. Sorry if it got a bit messy on the hills.

Marek, Ant and I had some fun on Coldharbour and around Leith with a flatlanders hill battle as we tried to hurt each other. Really enjoyed that :D . We waited at the top but after a while and a chat realised that the others must have turned off earlier to drop to Peaslake. It didn't bother me as I was turning off for my own fast blast on some flatter roads at that point but Marek is preparing properly for his trip to Italy and wanted a coffee  .

He and Ant didn't know how to get to Peaslake from where we were and I refused the kind offer to go in the opposite direction to the one I wanted to show them, I said to follow the sign to Arbinger and it was round the corner from there. They've got smartphones with googlemaps so I trust you found you coffee stop.

I dropped down to Ockley and had a blast TTing it all the way home apart from a brief stop at Reigate Heath for a chat with Jim as I'd spotted him loading his car in the boot after his morning ride.

Arrived home with aching legs and a smile on my face. Thanks guys cheered me up after the disappointment of my cancelled race. What also cheered me up was seeing Dan again out on his bike, good to see you back.

Really enjoyed it today, great little route with some good battles on the hills. Andrew, the group did find us, they came around the corner almost after you had left us to go on your unsocial way. We then made our way to Peaslake and I got my caffeine fix and a warm cheese straw which was very good.

Then did Hoe Lane, Whitedown and then Ant and I had a humdinger of a battle up Box Hill which I managed to get by a few truck lengths.

Del, Andy and I then headed back towards Horley through the lanes dropping Andy off for Reigate and Del left me at Horley where I then pushed on to East Grinstead. Not sure on the mileage as the battery ran out on the Garmin, but legs are telling me was a challenging ride.

Cheers

Thanks Del a really good ride and a good bunch of guys to ride with - not on my best form today (and even on best form I am usually one of last up the climbs!) so thanks to all for waiting every now and then for me to rejoin the group :D

..and finally to echo Mr. G's words, good to see Dan back - all the best for a full recovery very soon.

Excellent ride today.

12 of us set out from CSS. We had a mix of abilities, although not so wide that we couldn't keep the group together.

Sunday works out ok. Today we had Marek. Ant and Mr  going head to head on the climbs, with the rest of us strung out in groups along the longer ones. But we also had long spells where we stayed together well.

Two personal disasters for me today. Firstly, Ant doesn't like my Oakley jaw-bones. He said they are the worst cycling glasses there are. I had to fight back the tears on the descent from Ranmore to Dorking, and you don't need tears in your eyes coming down that hill.  Secondly, Nick and Ilya took the last Cheese Straws at Peaslake and they were the two people ahead of me in the queue. Dan didn't understand my love of Peaslake cheese straws!

63 miles for me door-to-door. We changed the route at the start to go out via Portnalls Road, Chipstead, Mugswell, Kingswood, Walton, Headley and Little Switzerland. Then we decided to add in Ranmore for the hell of it. Marek didn't think we had enough hills! From then, it was the route as planned through Coldharbour, Leith Hill, Holmbury Hill, Peaslake, White Down and Ranmore before heading up to Box Hill and home.

As Marek, said three of us headed South, NIck turned towards Headley and the rest of the group headed back towards Tadworth.

Great day out again and as Andrew said good to see Dan back on the bike again.

Sounds like a great ride- I do kinda miss them - but I'm concentrating on my TT form this year, however I did do such a ride at the @ rse end of May in glorious sunshine- the same day the wiggle "do" was going on.
Brilliant area to ride in, especially in the sun.

Chapeau to Del for getting it off the ground and keeping it flying.

 why was the TT cancelled?
