Postby Jamie AP » Sun Oct 10, 2010 8:38 pm

Hello,

Anyone fancy joining me for a night ride over The North Downs for a spot of MTB'ing?
Meet at 19:30 in the car park opposite the Fox Pub, in Old Coulsdon/Caterham and finish in the same place or in Coulsdon.
Any takers?

Hi, Julian, it will be great if you can make it. I was planning on heading east along and around the North Downs, taking in the fun bits, up to the woods of Marden Park, then back again. Of course, I would be most happy to pass on any riding skills I have learnt :D .

I'd like to give this a try but don't have the equipment. Any recommendations for an "entry-level" light?

Hi Colin

I'm not to informed of entry-level lights but have a look at the lights discussed on last weeks thread, at the bottom. Also worth poking around on the Singletrack World forum as they are always looking at lights over there. Well worth the investment, it's great fun! :D

I was just about to say the same (hopefully this link works).

Although I have two DealExtreme SSC-P7 lights, just one provides plenty of light for fast riding. These lights really are fantastic, performing as well as others costing 5 times as much.

I'll be there, unless it rains!

If anyone is keen to come along but is put off by lack of lights, I have a spare 220 lumen led light that I'm happy to loan. Not really enough output for hammering the trails at speed but adequate for moderate pace or following someone who has a good light. Run it in combo with a decent commuter light and you should be ok.

Just back from another great night ride. Nice to meet Julian and Wal. Unfortunately Julian hat to cut home after a while as his achilies was shouting :( . Shortly after that Wal's rear tyre blew with a huge sidewall gash  . Once moving again we discovered that the light rain was making the trails very grippy but the roots very slick, making for lots of sideways sliding fun!

Top stuff, looking forward to next time! :D
