The B TG is a good idea . I will have a go at that for a while to see if the transition to the A TG is any easier. It might benefit also if a VC from the A group tells the B group what route they are doing so we can follow in their wake .
Should it be established if the B TG works to an average mph so people know what is going on ?

Previously I think that a B-TG has simply been less full-on in terms of pace, plus regrouping at the top of any "hill". Average speed is a bit irrelevant - It depends on the weather conditions, plus who's riding.

I think the club has always struggled to get enough interest in a B Group. Why dont we handicap the TG groups. i.e. we give TG B 5 mins at CS and 2 mins at the dual carriageway.

Oh and I would ban any big(ish) fish from joining the TG B group as well even if they do come up with some lame excuse.

I know regrouping is nice and agreeable and all that but if its done too often the ride becomes fairly pointless in terms of putting in an effort. Somebody shouted out that nobody would be dropped from the group on Saturday but three coasted in off the pace for one reason or another .So although the intention is not to drop, if you do get dropped off a fast group then - well, tough t*t. We all know the way back to the cafe by now.
I think Paul's got the right idea. If the B group is called first then we will know if the numbers are there for the group in the first place and if they are not then there is the opportunity to join the A group and hang on for as long as possible for those of us who want to give it a go.

I'm not able to make it out next Saturday.... so is anyone else up for a ride on Sunday?

Not sure where but either I'll think of somewhere or someone else can come up with a route and destination :D

What about trying a 20 or a 21 like we used to have to bridge the gap between the 19s and the TG?

Jon,

I hope to be back next Saturday.

Been out twice this weekend after the sinus operation and things seem ok.

Didn't quite make it to CSS on time, and was passed by the 19mph group heading in the opposite direction at the first set of lights after CSS. Turned round and chased after them and caught them by Reigate!

Depending on weather, how I feel and whether Ant is leading TGB, happy to lead the 19 or 17 groups, or just to tag along and get back to fitness if enough other VCs are out.

Simply ease off the pace to allow any rides a bit off the back to rejoin at the top of the steps, by the Skim and in Rusper.

 Don't believe everything you hear before the TG sets off from CSS. My first week with ACC, I clearly heard Marek say "You'll be fine". Never trusted the guy since ;-)

Be sensible out there, chaps - just ease up and ride gently. This might seem obvious but you just might not be able to ride at the speeds you want to or are accustomed to :|

I think the main roads could be worse- as one of last year's rides found out. Any water gets spread out nice and thin by passing cars...

Anyway think of me - I've got my ultrasound (final check up on my innards to make sure they're all ok) at 9am at St Helier hospital and I can't have any breakfast or even a drink beforehand :( Anywhere decent for a good fry-up in Rose Hill/Sutton afterwards?

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Might see some of you on NYE and the rest in the New Year itself
