Ride to Brighton Half Marathon Sun 20 Feb

On road, off road, round in a big circle or down to the coast, we do the lot. We don't just do it at all speeds and for all levels, we do it Agreeably as well!

Ride to Brighton Half Marathon Sun 20 Feb

Postby Sylv » Thu Feb 03, 2011 3:51 pm

Super triathlete Ian Leitch is running the Brighton half and has set his goal on going under 1h07 - that is proper fast, proper proper fast.

If the weather is nice enough I plan to ride down there to watch the race on the seafront.

The catch is that the race starts at 9am so a 6am start will be required :)

Planning to take the shortest route possible which is about 70km from Croydon. Might ride back too if it's a nice day.

Let me know if you're interested.

Weather permitting then yes to ride down and I'd be riding back.
I take it from your start time you're going to see the start Sylv? If so then I may not stay for all of it and head back earlier.

Yes see the start, should only take about 1h10 to see the top finishers (and maybe a little more for Lucy), gives time for a brunch, looks like the course is backing on itself so might get the chance to catch the runners a few times along their way.

btw not planning on a belter (ballbuster training on the Sat).

Fair point, okay Lucy you've got 1hr30 to get back or you only get a cheer on your way out :D .
I have my first Sporting TT the following Saturday to get some speed in my legs so knock yourself out on the 19th and I might actually be able to make you suffer for 5mins on Sunday  .

Just to let you know I may not be able to do this ride now. Had several heavy falls at speed when xc ski racing, hip swole the size of a pea bag with internal bleeding and now I suspect I may have cracked ribs. Cycling is safer! Will keep you posted.
