Hi Jon

I'm sure Pete won't mind me saying that he's had a virus for a few months now and as far as I know he won't be out. I don't know if anyone else wants to pick up the mantel of alternative ride organiser in his absence?

It's the first Saturday of the month which means it's also the Just For Fun, J4F Run :D :D

I believe Jon Czernobay is otherwise engaged so I'll be covering the group. There's been quite a lot of interest so we're looking forward to a nice agreeable group of first timers and returnees for a steady ride down to the Pine Cafe. Probably across Reigate Heath, over the River Mole, through Leigh, down to Parkgate, then left and left again up Blanks Lane and down Stan Hill to Charlwood. Then back to Povey Cross, Meath Green, Lonesome Lane, Earlswood and Redhill. Ending up at Nonna Rosas in Coulsdon for lunch approx 34 miles round trip.

Today was my first CR after 2 weeks off for holiday :D. I went off today with the 19's we were a smallish group but organised, we kept a fairly steady pace all the way to the pine cafe we even had glances of the B training group a couple of times infront of us. On the way back I decided to go through boxhill on my own pace as I missed the group. After a couple of miles I relealise that my legs are out of steam, so I continued with a slow pace until I reached boxhill, started the climb but then couldnt continue felt a bit dizzy so I pulled off and took a break while watching the end of ballbuster's race. I took off after a bit and climbed box hill probably the slowest I have ever done . All the way back I didnt feel too good as still the dizzyness didnt go away and I had to stop a couple of times to try and shake it out but none of that worked. At the end I reached home safely took a shower and immediatly felt better :D. I think I overworked myself today after not being out on the bike for 2 weeks that probably explains the dizzyness even though I have been out for a couple of runs, but I guess its different.

A nice but very cold ride today. :|

I set off with a list of 14 possible J4F riders in my pocket. En route to CSS, Deborah phoned to apologise - she was having trouble fitting new brake blocks. "Pop down to Coulsdon and we'll see what we can do", I said. "It's too late", she replied. "Where do live?" I asked pondering whether I could offer some assistance on the way home. "Earls Court" came the reply  Ok, you'd best let Evans look at it then :!:

In the end only Claire, Cassian and Adam showed up. A number of others set off with us though – Phil Nash, Alex Protasiuk, Phil Foyle, Bus driver Peter, but we split just after the motorway turnoff. I sent the others on and Claire and I rode at a slower pace to Reigate, where we had some refreshments in the Country Kitchen before riding across the Heath and then cutting across to Woodhatch and intercepting the route home up past Earlswood.

As it was relatively early, we went left along Gatton Bottom and then up Markedge, past Fannys Farm to Chipstead High Road and down to Coulsdon. As I mentioned last week, the High Road is one of my favourate lanes in the area. Unfortunately, the terrible surface on the steep descent of Portnalls Road, and the congestion at the Lion Green Road junction rather spoils it at the moment :( :( I might make this a regular return route though when those things are fixed, although some self-retraint is required to ride past Fanny's without stopping for more tea & cake

Loads of Agreeables at Nonna Rosas, where I enjoyed a veggie lasagna & carrot cake washed down with a latte. Before riding back with Il Capitano 2000-2010.

An agreeable week to you all
