CALLING ALL WOMEN !

On road, off road, round in a big circle or down to the coast, we do the lot. We don't just do it at all speeds and for all levels, we do it Agreeably as well!

CALLING ALL WOMEN !

Postby higg » Tue Mar 08, 2011 2:30 pm

Sorry for the attention grabbing header but this is just a reminder of the Women's "Meet and Greet Ride" that Addiscombe are hosting at the Coulsdon Club Run this Saturday.

The details of this Saturdays ride are given here http://www.addiscombe.org/members/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=12325
It would be good to get as many Addiscombe women as possible to turn up. This would be good moral suppoort for any newcomers who turn up. (The group lead will be by VC as normal).

The intention is to support all levels of cyclist that turn up on the day, so, if you have any friends etc. who have shown a passing interest in the ACC club run, now is the chance to get them out.

There is some good feedback on the LWCR website of the rides that have been held so far. (Spot the Addiscombe shirt in the photo)

It looks like there's a bit of monentum to these rides. Here's two more articles

Is this a Womens cycle "facebook revolution" ?

Based on previous rides, I would expect maybe 5 to 10 women from outside Addiscombe to turn up (although Dulwich had almost 20 on their ride last month).

So far the forecast is for sunny intervals, it may be a bit chilly but should be dry.

Absolutely fabulous ride this was, we had a good number of ladies who turned up at CSS, who really enjoyed the ride from the feedback in the Pine and at Nonas, The weather - fantastic, and pace even better :D :D I realised on the ride that this is the first time I have ridden the Halford special comfortably since the early days, it felt great, especially as I remember going up the Merstram Drag at 4ml with the help of AlanT,.. today 8-9ml - it did not even feel too bad, the group virtually stayed together for the complete ride, we had a few imposters, Paul, and - ( MarkB on the way back - to be fair to Mark he had a valid reason, but,.... bet that's the first time he's ever ridden with the 15s

I really liked the idea of The Ladies group being pushed out first TG style,. it was good to see the other groups, slowly but surely pass us, with kind greetings and encouragement, A HUGE Thank you, to the 4 VC'S who covered this ride today, Maria - Organiser, Aodan, Amy & Lucy, I had a really, really, great day today, one of the best :D :D

Hope every one else enjoyed their rides today, everyone looked happy and chilled at Pine, and Nonas was heaving,.... it was good to see everyone :D,

My photos to follow via Aodan, tnx

Cheers Rachel.

It looked like everyone really enjoyed the womens group yesterday. It was the sunniest day of cycling I've had yet this year.

Fantastic photos - hope everyone had a good time! Special BIG thanks to all involved in the organising, promotion, and leading of the rides (Maria, Amy, Lucy and Aodan) and all those women Agreeables who turned up to meet and greet and of course for all those first timers who turned up to ride yesterday without whom it wouldn't have been the success it was. Well done, one and all!! :D :D :D :D

Shalll we do it again? :D

Cheers

Thanks to Higg, Lucy and Rachael for the photos. They capture the fun time we had.

It was great to see a good turnout of women on Saturday, and even better that people enjoyed the ride and we had a good ambiance.
Thanks to Jon, Amy, Lucy, Aodan and Alex P for giving a warm ACC welcome to the women. We had happy customers, so hopefully some of them will be back for more!

Bye for now, M :)
It's so good that this kind of initiative has finally got off the ground. Anza are trying the same thing here and it's generally working out well.

Jon, I like the armband btw.

Chapeau to everyone involved.

Sean

Cheers, Sean -

PS you didn't make the alternative CR!? Last I heard you were in Iraq. What happened?
