The extended return is Colgate, Mannings Heath, Rusper, Newdigate, Headley, Chipstead Valley. Not big miles just a bit extra with a couple of climbs in it.

Will leave the cafe a bit earlier, bite and tea and on the way, less sitting and nattering. I'll give a call when I'm leaving.
How was your ride Andrew?

Good thanks, shame no takers.

Nice weather this morning, almost feels like spring is on it's way.

Had a good ride out with the 19s, everyone did a bit of work and we wound the pace up from the golf course drag to the cafe. Iliya's mate was really strong and towed everyone the last 2 miles at a steady 25mph, we all tucked in behind and enjoyed the ride :D .

We were some of the first to arrive at the cafe so when I was ready to leave for my extension I only checked if there were any takers in the garden as those in the cafe hadn't been there long and were still eating or waiting in line. No takers from the garden as they all seemed to be happy to soak up the sun's rays so I set off on my own.

After an easy spin up Russ Hill to get my legs going again I picked up the pace and had a good S&M ride, inflicting pain on yourself but enjoying it  and responding to it. The route I do on this extension is here --> http://bikeroutetoaster.com/Course.aspx?course=215730, about 17 miles from the cafe to Rusper and rolling. From Rusper I carried on to Newdigate and over to Box Hill, I was going to go up the nice Headley Road climb but went for Box instead as the sun was out and the sky clear to have a nice view as I rode along the side of the hill and at the top.

A few cyclists at the top of Box but none I recognised so just rode straight through and back to CSS, a quick wave to the Nona crew supping coffee at the tables outside and home for lunch. Door to door a smidge under 80 miles at a smidge over 18mph average in the sun, nice.

Hope the mob match went well Lucy, nothing personal but I hope Blackheath won  .

Well, thanks to Cap'n Jon for getting the weather right. Looking at today's Paris-Nice, it seems they had our regular weather.

Good ride with a fairly large 18s group. Not a lot of incident - although there was one remarkably stupid car driver but I reckon he got the message after being harangued by a man on a pink bike. The horses seemed to be out in force today which gave us something else to watch out for.

Returned with George's Box Hill group. About half way round the Spring Onion tomorrow I'll be able to tell you whether that was a good idea or not.

 Sorry I didn't recognise you, I'll try and get myself out of the hole I've dug by saying I couldn't see clearly through the stars in front of my face after hanging on to your back wheel.

Blackheath's Alex Gibbins was first home, but South London Harriers won the Mob Match. I'm sure you were well up in the pack, Lucy!

That's why I call him Super Ghaleb (for those who don't know Super Galeb is a jet plane). :D

Glad to finally be riding without mud guards. :)

 not sure about being "well up" in the pack, but me legs managed to get me round ok! We all celebrated the SLH WIN with a glass of port on the finish line, very civilised :D

Huge turn out at CSS - which is nice! :D

Too many for the 17s so we split and I took a 'strong seventeen' with VC JohnS taking a 'not so strong seventeen'. can't remember everyone (old age also a factor here - Ed) as I was on the front what seemed most of the time  so didn't get to rotate often enough (if you know what I mean) but I think Nigel, Rich, Claire, Brian, Sam, Monty, Ron were there somewhere.

An uneventful ride in beautiful sunshine - absolutely glorious. Rich picked up the green jersey after Sam got out of position and ended up as Rich's lead out man!!

Some dispute about our average time but I can now officially state it was 17.7 mph - which (although I say it myself) is just about perfect for a 'strong seventeen' :D :D

Great ride back - went via Rocky and Markedge and Chipstead High Road - Sam picked up 1st place KoM points on all three climbs. Standing room only at Nonna's but a couple of Americanos and a slice walnut and coffee cake fuelled me up for the return to Redhill back the way we came. Felt pretty strong today - and Sam seems to be getting some of his old form back :D - perhaps it's the sunshine :D - 85 kms @ 26.8 kph (or in old money 53 miles @ just over 16.5 mph).

Thanks everyone and roll on next saturday! :D :D :D :D

Lovely day for it or what...spiffing.

B training for me. Joined on the front by Steve B who was going great and Peachy who was having gear trouble all day but was also going well.. Largish group joined by a couple of new faces, pace was good and group kept together till just before Rusper where just Steve, Peachy and myself were left flying the flag for the B's. Matt, Paul H and Keith caught us just after Rusper so it was on to the DC for a good through and off after a regroup of the remaining A's and B's. Run into the sprint was a giggle with Keith getting stuck behind the Ben of the TG, he who goes by the name of Dan who lost the ability to corner. I zipped around the outside of Dan with Keith overheating with frustration. Paul H, Matt and Steve B had got a gap on me by now so I hit the gas and went at them flat out catching them and going straight past them....on towards the line for a win...but as I glanced over my left shoulder Steve B came past me on the right  I had nothing left after launching my sprint earlier than I like to close the gap the 3 had initially over me. Good fun though.

HUUUUGE queue at the cafe, do you slower guys now take an even shorter route now or what? Nice to sit outside in the sun though and have a cuppa.

Left the cafe at a sedate pace, this didn't last long as Paul H soon lit the blue touch paper and we were off. Sylv on his TT bike going well and Matt pulling us along like a man on a mission. Pace didn't let up and we were soon back regrouping at the church before going off again to what I know would be a painful few miles back to CSS. Good pace up the Merstham drag and straight over the top for the mad dash back. Sat behind Sylv for a tow but might as well be sat behind a broom stick on skateboard for all the benefit that gave me. Some strong turns back and it was soon time for a well deserved drink and a chat.

Felt great yesterday considering the miles and turbo sessions I've put in over the last week. Here's hoping for more. Cheers :D
