Extended club run this Sat April 2nd

On road, off road, round in a big circle or down to the coast, we do the lot. We don't just do it at all speeds and for all levels, we do it Agreeably as well!

Extended club run this Sat April 2nd

Postby Steve B » Tue Mar 29, 2011 11:51 pm

Looking to ride for an extra 25 or so miles this week, so am looking for anyone from training or 19 groups who would like to join me. Pace will be steady and definately not balls out. Haven't decided on a route yet, open to suggestions.
Will stop somewhere for tea and cake and will be looking to get back to Coulsdon for about 2.00 - 2.30pm.
Andy and Darren said they might join me, anyone else?

I need to be back by 1.30pm - so could only come if we went earlier? If not I will join the normal club run.

I know a good run out Kent way which takes in the Ashdown forest (probably 70+ miles) - and is therefore quite hilly as well  Or the ACC sportive run sounds good?

Cheers,

Darren

I'm planning a longer ride on Sunday, so happy with regular TG, or can turn back early from a longer ride.

We could do the usual training group ride at the normal A or B pace, then those that want to could turn left instead of right and head down the A264 to the A24 turning near Horsham, head up to Capel, turn left and over Leith Hill, then back to Dorking and over Box.

It's a good 70 miles, we won't be back to late and we still get to do the club run at a good pace.

Not sure what I'm doing but may join you Steve. If you are looking at the sportive route then I think it's a too long to fit in to your schedules, you could do an alternative CR out through Brockham and left at Parkgate, up Partridge and down to Lambs Green, up to Rusper, back to Newdigate, then do the last hilly bit of the sportive up Coldharbour and over to and up Whitedown.
Basically this which is 90kms CSS to CSS so may be a bit short for you but with a fair bit of climbing in it, notably at the end. A run to Ashdown would be nice, can come back through Groombridge and Penshurst and choose your final big hill to climb over to get to Westerham.

Another option is the extended route I've been doing which is CR and then carry on through Colgate and Mannings Heath, back to North horsham and up to Rusper, back over to Box Hill and up Headley Road. This from the Pine to Rusper

Lots of good ideas, thanks. Would an 8.30 start put anyone off? If so we'll just go at the usual time.
Route :- don't want too many hills, just looking for time in the saddle, but obviously I don't mind a few if I have too  . How about doing some of the L2B route? I'm really not fussed, I'll go along with a majority decision :D .

Afraid you can change my ? to an X Steve. I have a few things to do so will head out Ashdown way for an earlier non-stop ride.

Happy for anyone to join me if they want, say 19s riders. I'll be leaving Selsdon (traffic lights) at 8.30am and there won't be a cafe stop. About 65-75 miles (depending where you live). A sort of mix of lanes and B roads to Ashdown Forest, Groombridge, Penshurst, Ide Hill, Brasted, Tatsfield, home.
