Still got this gorgeous weather 8) . Enjoyable ride out this morning with a good 19s group, everyone seemed to be doing their bit and we rolled along at a good steady pace, I clipped off at Partridge to get to the cafe in time to powder my nose and get my tea without getting caught in a long queue. Good to chat to some I haven't seen for a little while on the ride and at the cafe.

Hope whoever had come off in one of the other groups by the garage in Newdigate is okay.

Came home via Box Hill with a good little group of about half a dozen of us. All riding well and pulling it along at a fair lick. I did my ususal trick as I'm not very quick up hills, crank up the pace and drive it to the base of the hill, dropped all bar Carl I think, which gives me slip room for the climb. Worked quite well today :D , still caught on the hill by half of them but not much later to the top. A handy trick for the non-climbers amongst us.

I'd prefer something at least 5 degrees cooler - felt like I got parboiled today and just couldn't get enough water in to stop dehydrating but despite that...

....it was an absolutely gorgeous ride :D Which was why I really wanted to do the ride to Lullingstone. Don't get out that way much having done most of my cycling more over the west of Surrey but I love those little lanes out that way. The bluebells were out in force and just filled the air for miles with their scent as we moved in and out of shady lanes into the full sun and past little villages and olde worlde cottages.

The cafe stop was known to me - most of 'em are  Missed a turning on the way back but I didn't mind as it was nice to get tucked in and freewheel down Polhill rather than slogging up it.

Took an easy route after climbing Botley Hill with PeteS, Martin O, Brian and one other whose name I don't know (sorry) - he turned off at Gangers and Brian carried on when Pete, Martin and me decided that another cup of tea and a spot of lunch was on the menu at the Woldingham Garden Centre tea rooms. Worked out well for me as it meant I could get in, shower and start baking without worrying about lunch - the flat is now even more baking than it was when I got in but I hope that baking two banana breads works out ok and means I don't have to have the oven on for two hours...

I can hear thunder somewhere - looks like it's over Croydon. Might be good for the riders tomorrow if we have a good thunderstorm this evening - oooooooh I love thunderstorms 8) (yes, I know, I'm strange... )

Cracking alternative ride today made all the better with the absence of Ian.

The climbing started immediately with farthings Downs and continued for the whole ride. In-between there were miles of down hills top speed of 66 kms.

Great company great road. Shouldn't complain so I won't but it was a tad hot.

The B TG had quite a few participants today . Everybody worked well and a good consistant pace was kept up keeping the A TG at bay.
Unfortunately we had quite a bad accident in Becky coming off . Having just come down a slight decline the speed was about 23/24 and it would appear there was a touching of wheels which sent her tumbling.
Fortunately one of the women out walking was a nurse and came to help and then an off duty policeman offered assist which greatly helped the situation. Richard also turned up a few minutes after the incident and sat beside Becky.
I don't know if there was a problem with postcodes but the ambulance took about 20 minutes to turn up which seemed like an awful long time.
I understand that she is in hospital waiting for X Ray results and has already had a C T scan .

Best wishes Becky

Went out with the Sunday team today. Very familiar territory, lovely ride on quiet roads and lanes out through Chipstead then a box hill loop. I left the others at the top of the hill they wanted more and I was starting to melt.

Good fun - thanks to Del for organising and to everyone for company and waiting for me

Cheers - Snoop

Just wanted to thank everyone for all their help and best wishes following Becky's accident, and also for the beautiful flowers the club sent her. After a week at home with her parents, she's making a good recovery and is looking forward to getting back on her bike and out with the club as soon as possible.

Cheers

Richard
