OFFROAD Royal Wedding Avoidance - Friday 29 April ride?

Well I'm guessing my invite's gotten lost in the post. Shame - I quite fancied being the drunk bloke at the back swearing a lot.

So instead, I wondered is anyone interested in a few leisurely trail miles out over Epsom Downs and maybe a pub stop near Walton? I think you'd need an mtb for this trip. If you own a dog you're welcome to bring it along for the ride, unless it's a corgi. Also - just for this ride if you want to swap your water bottle for a commemorative mug I think we should allow that.

Hope to see a few of you next Friday. Plan to leave from Wallington Cycles (opposite Sainsbo's on the Stafford Road) around 9.45. If lots of folk want to come and aren't au fait with the area I don't mind starting from CSS and slogging back up the hill.

Cheers - Snoop

Snoop,

Excellent idea. I'm in and can meet in Wallington no problem. I'll have to be on my train home by about 1pm, though (not sure how long a "pub stop" you have in mind).

I was thinking more of an all day ride - maybe to Wiston (near the South Downs)... (dont' have an mtb)

Surely any pub with a telly will be showing the joyful festivities in all their HD glory, with sound pumped into the beer garden for those outside to rejoice with their fellows?

I would be up for a ride but it would have to be road as I don't have an MTB.

Good point - if it's dry I'll be there, if you stick your head out the window Friday morning and it's raining - forget about this, I will be :D

wow - that was good fun! Fine weather so we added on some new loops out Epsom/Headley way. Pub stop in Banstead, bangers n mash - then home. Lots of laughs couple of downhills, loads of dusty trails and most importantly, good company and barely a main road in sight. It's all on your doorstep folks - you can have a great ride without the A23 :)
