MTB ride 6/7 August

On road, off road, round in a big circle or down to the coast, we do the lot. We don't just do it at all speeds and for all levels, we do it Agreeably as well!

After the Triathlon of doom has passed, I am now also up for MTBing again - if my legs recover by next weekend that is :)

Taz you still keen?

Anyone else?

Hi Arne,

Saturday morning would be good for me. Do you have any start point / route / time in mind?

dude, i usually don't make up the plan, i'm just there for the ride :) but saturday works better for me too as long as we're back not too late in the afternoon....

my personal preference is to take the train / cars somewhere cool and start riding there and then, rather than wasting time leaving croydon on bike for example.

but let's see who else is keen....

[quote="tazmania_1981"]hi guys

OK, let's get to East Croydon station taxi rank on Saturday at about 9.45am and leave at 10am sharp.

I should be able to put something together with the help of a map. However, if Aodan or Marco could post a rough outline of one of the regular routes that would be a big help. If they could come along and lead it that would be an even bigger help!

I'll be aiming for about 2.5 hours with a drink & cake stop. "Leisure" pace so all welcome - please post if you're coming.

if the weather is good maybe we could pop in one of the pubs for a beer as well after the ride

(just a suggestion )

It was indeed a really good one. We made up a route as we went along from what we could remember of Marco's and Aodan's rides, taking in Croham Hurst, Farleigh, Chelsham, a trail that Taz tells me is called Chocolate Eclair (not sure if he was pulling my leg) and then a (relatively) gruelling climb in the long grass on the Vanguard Way up to Greenhill Shaw - some nice views in between gasping for breath. By then, after excellent conditions in the morning, rain clouds were gathering so we came back mostly on road via Woldingham, except for an exhilarating short descent on a track from Woldingham Garden Village - paying the price right afterwards with the slog up Bug Hill into Warlingham. Taz then took us on a scenic tour of the Croydon suburbs and I was back at the station at 2, sadly not having time to join the others for a kebab feast.
