A good ride with the TG, hard into the wind till we reached the dual carriageway where we could cruise at 50km/h. After café a few of us rode back the long way, a good blast up Box Hill then nice long sit in the sun where we met other groups, then SteveB and I turned back towards North Holmwood for the TT, Steve was due to push off and I did that too as the original helper had desisted  , got to give Sean Yates a push, think Steve pushed Christian. On the way I was starting to bonk badly having not eaten much, so we raided the canteen and then went off to the shops to get more before they ran out of cakes.

After that we went with George for a bit of TTT practise around the Henfold course, good think George had just ridden a good hard tt as both of us were cooked! I had planned to take George's offer of a lift back, but didn't want to miss out on the tailwind and thought I'd just have an easy ride back. Started with John and Ghaleb (on his mtb) both having ridden the TT, then turned off up Pebble Hill. After that the tailwind was fantastic, found my legs again and blasted all the way till I met Peter in Purley, and we had another little blast to Croydon. 135km @ 21mph : )

Wore a Cervelo top today - never seen so many of them out today!!!

Since I am under doctor's orders to "take it easy", took Tom with the 15s - his first "proper" CR. I figured that if I was with him, he could always drop off and we'd take a shortcut. Got booted up to Lucy's "fast 15s" by John Cz. Some interesting driving and differences of opinions in Reigate. It's a shame there isn't a route the whole club could do to avoid it. Tom seems OK in the bunch although he confessed it was hard when he hit the front, especially with young George.

No Partridge Lane shortcut for us so we went straight on there. More interesting motoring in Rusper when a tricked-out Golf decided to squeeze past, shout that we were "Arrogant Rotters*" and then immediately turn right. Hmm.

I was supposed to lead out Tom for the sprint but it didn't quite work out that way. Next time. He didn't bring anyone down but he might have talked people to death. He really enjoyed it though.

Bacon Sarnies at the cafe then over the Beare Green for the TT. Hopefully Jon got my phoning through of the results over the traffic noise. I've worked out how to make phonecalls on the new whizzy phone. Back home via Box with about 52 miles on the clock only to remember that my car was still in Croydon...

:) :)

It's great what Tom has been doing and enjoying his riding too. Lets have more youngsters like Tom and George at the club.

I have been struggling for some time now and thought I would go out with the alternatives as they would look after me.

Don't know where we went (never do), it involved lots of climbing and then some more climbing. Marky Mark (he was stung by a wasp who later died of alcohol poissoning) and I got dropped around Leith Hill (wouldn't happen if Pete was in charge, come back Pete, we love you again), before we met the group again at the bottom of Box Hill.

Came back through Walton and a fine sprint through Chipstead with Monica, The Power, Andy et al.
Then Nona's and home with 86kms done. 'Appy days :D

Thanks Andy :D A fine days riding

First alternative for me too, hilly was def a good description, there was some confusion when Mark started shuting yellow and black Fxxxers, however it was quickly realised he meant the wasp that just gave him botox lips,

Leah Hill, Ramsmoor 16% max, a couple of others and back Via Box, few more peole from my job there too.

Conner Marcus Andy and the rest of the gang made it a fantastic ride, i will be back in a couple of weeks

please see my post in general re Lodger. TA ALL.

Two weeks lying by the pool at a Club Med in Turkey watching the lither French yummy mummies doing aqua aerobics was never going to be the best preparation for my first foray with the B training group.
Nor the 20s or, so it proved, either of the 19s, as I struggled to stay with the fast 19s and later was caught and dropped by both halves of the standard 19s. Got to the cafe at a feeble average 18.4 and, after a refreshing bacon sarny and cuppa and chat with Del and Andy about their etape exploits, headed off on my tod towards Reigate. This proved to be my finest hour as not only did nobody catch and pass me but I also caught Alan M's earlier group on the Merstham drag as they fixed a flat. Rolled home after 40 miles feeling reasonably ok but in need of some serious work in the coming months - Marmotte or QBH beckon for 2012.
