Sunday 2nd Oct - 18/19s ride

On road, off road, round in a big circle or down to the coast, we do the lot. We don't just do it at all speeds and for all levels, we do it Agreeably as well!

Sunday 2nd Oct - 18/19s ride

Postby Andrew G » Tue Sep 27, 2011 5:15 pm

I'll be heading off in to Kent on Sunday (2nd Oct) for anyone who wants to join me.

It'll be my usual Sunday rules, which as a refresher are:
Steady but reasonable pace, no waiting, regroup only at the top of proper hills, make sure you are self sufficient (have enough spares, food, drink), and know how to get home if you get seperated. In other words pack common sense  ,you won't be nurse-maided like on a regular CR.

Depart: Lloyd Park car park, Coombe Rd (nr the tram stop).
Time: 9.30am
Distance: Approx 50 miles (Croydon to Croydon)
Cafe stop: No, won't be stopping anywhere so bring enough with you.
Route: Great lanes with the odd hill and some varied terrain, it won't be a sportive but it won't be flat. South as far as Hever and east to the A21.
Pace: Suitable for strong 18s club run riders or above.
Home: for lunch.

Cheers,

Andrew.

You might find you have some company on Sunday, as Dulwich Paragon's Ride of the Falling Leaves goes out that way.

Didn't know that but having a look at their route although we cover similar lanes in similar areas we only use the same bit of road for a very short time from Edenbridge to Hever, and we are going up different hills. Both have a similar profile too, but I see I have a smidge less climbing...I can fix that on the day easily enough if someone wants another hill though.

I'm not signposting my route though, so keep up :) .

Worry not, the route takes in both the Catford and Bec hill climb hills.

7 of us out in Kent in this glorious weather. Excellent company, a really enjoyable ride, I had a great morning. Not so sure Iliya is glad he's entered the Catford HC now though :) , Yorks Hill was a bit of a surprise for the others I think  but with Ghaleb and John also entered there'll be 4 of us gurning up it next week through the crowds.

Saw a few groups from the Falling Leaves ride near Hever, one with Jon H safely nestled in the middle enjoying the sun.

Really nice ride and I loved the descent to Brasted. It paid for all the pain I suffered today. :)

Thanks Andrew for leading the group.

I was in doubt this morning but I’m glad I entered the challenge. :)
