That was a better day than I expected - there are better routes down to Brighton, though Slugwash Lane did much to soothe my slightly tattered sensibilities from too much main and busy roads. I have explained a better route to Jon Cz.
Rode up Ditchling much better than I thought I would - managed to haul myself past several cars stuck behind slower riders (including one idiot who overtook me just to add to the line of two others I'd been approaching). Then there was the Challoner school bus challenge, stopping to pick up some lads who'd cramped - thankfully nothing coming down the other way. Had started behind the main group of 15s and 16s having stopped to use the facilities in the village but I managed to overtake a few going up

Hit 41 miles down into Mouselcombe
Jorge, we'll have to introduce you to some of the hills in Surrey - some have two arrows on (Ditchling only has one).
Started off with a large group as a lot didn't seem to know the route but a few of us waited for those slower on the climb out of Hove. Hope you got back ok, Justin. A small group formed led by Phil H as we climbed up Devil's Dyke the front way because Phil wanted another chance to break 40 - I decided to follow him and enjoy a lovely bit of downhill. I did not 'brick it', thanks Freddy, but must have clocked 43mph as that was my new max after that
Though I was tired and ached I seemed to get stronger on the way back

Lost a couple more on the way back as Ollie decided to catch the train back from Faygate (NOT Claygate!!) and Freddy stopped for sustenance in Reigate but we got back to Nonna's for a very good bit of cake just after 5pm. Think I need to check my speedo though as it said I'd done 120 miles... The timings seemed right but I'm sure I don't normally break the 100 mark on Brighton rides following the usual route or slight variations of
Knackered but felt much happier at the end of the day.
