Wigmore CC Bill Philbrook Memorial 25 mile TT

2009 saw the first Full Field in a '25 'in Kent for over 30 years happen in this event. Excluding of course the National Championship held in the County in 1983 and won by Darryl Webster. The first of his hat trick of wins.
After 27 years of trying it was also the first time I had experienced such numbers, although often knocking on the door. A new Course and Event Record was set by Ben Instone with a blistering 52-08 beating his old time by 6 seconds. That is the fastest time recorded in the County since those balmy days in the 1970's when super rides were being done on the now defunct Q25/3.(Cobham-Black Prince, Bexley-Gravesend East).Who would dare ride a bike on the A2 these days.
Since last years event after numerous shouts that of "it is a long course" by users of Garmins, it was decided to re-measure Q25/8. Surprise surprise. The slight drag to the finish has now been reduced by 205 yards. The gift hill start remains the same and a bonus, is that much of the course has a new surface.
So if I have not whetted your appetite maybe the Super well spread Prize Awards will sway the balance.Thank you for listening.

Sorry, no can do again Doug as it clashes with the Charlotteville 50 for me. I hope you get another full field that's a very good prize list, I like the course and will be there a few times this season. Looking forward to it even more after I heard about the resurfaced road and corrected course distance. It's a nice course with some variety and nicer scenery than a lot, I know I should be too in the zone to notice it but it's nicer to see a church in your peripheral vision than a greasy spoon cafe :D .

Fastest Trike! Brave sole to charge down that hill on 3 wheels, their bum must be going like a rabbit's nose on the bend.
