TT Course Info.

Postby Andrew G » Fri Aug 04, 2006 9:50 pm

Does anyone have any details/info on the GS/483 course?
There's a 2up TT in October on it where one rider has to be a vet, and I'm trying to convince my Dad we should have a go for a laugh (only 15.4miles). As it's a sporting course it might be too hilly so any info would be appreciated as I can't find any on the CTT website.

Thanks,

Andrew.

The GS\483 is the Redmon GP and as Marco said is a brilliant event. In the past it has been won by vets such as Sean Yates (being towed round by one B Wiggins if I remember correctly).

The course is slightly different from the one Marco has ridden.

It starts at the same start as we use for the Club 10 and then up the A24 to the first roundabout.

You then take the Rusper Road exit, which many people will be familiar with from their first time riding and going off course on the Club TT (Sean?). You follow this road which eventually comes out in Rusper (if you're riding the club run it is the right turn just before you get to Rusper). This is probably the lumpiest section of the course with a couple of nasty kicks but nothing that is really hill like.

You then turn left and reverse the club run route to Newdigate. In Newdigate you turn left (make sure you don't take the first left    ) and follow this road back towards North Holmwood.

There is then a left turn which brings you along the road which runs along the top of the hill towards Inholm Lane car park (again familiar from the Club 10s) where you finish just before the car park.

The lanes are lumpy but it's not a hilly course.

Thanks for the help, shall now use words like lumpy and rolling to convince the old man to do it. I think Yates and Wiggins time will be safe!

[quote]The results are all worked out according to 'vets standards' - basically its all age related and the older the vet the more allowance they get. You often get 70 year old winners of these events.

If this doesn't swing it nothing will. :)

Andy
Don`t let me put you off, but the Redmon event is very popular and generally oversubscribed.
It`s not first come first served, its worked out on the vets standard-if your father is a novice, I doubt that you would get in.
I think you would have a much better chance in the Lewes event.
Anyway let us know what happens.

Thanks Tel, the thought of riding was to do it for a bit of fun rather than proper competition, so the closeness of the location was also a consideration (Lewes probably a bit far). I'll enter us in and see what happens, but will be prepared to miss the cut unless his venerable age gets us in on a sympathy vote :)
