Just wondered, when you get promoted from 4th cat to 3rd cat, do your poins get reset?

i.e if i gain 10 points as a 4th, i get promoted to 3rd.

do i start as a 3rd with 10 points to my name already, or do you start from 0 again in the quest fo the 40 points to become a 2nd?

You lose the 10 points it took to get you to a 3rd cat. So if you pick up exactly 10 points you are back to zero, but if you have, for example, 14 points when you go up they are reduced to 4 points as a 3rd cat.
