[quote="Tony"]Guys - good luck over the weekend.
One tip for the hillclimb on Friday is that you cannot be too warmed-up for these short sharp efforts. From my hillclimb experiences (and timed training sessions on the hills) your first full on attempt each day is not your fastest - even after a decent warm-up. It can be the second or even the third attempt before you operating most effectively. Don't be afraid to warm up well and get up to the pace you will be riding at and holding at that pace for several minutes. Only if you lack some racing fitness or really struggle on the hills (which you both don't) does it become possible to warm-up too much.
Also - make sure you know where the course starts and finishes. It's not quite in the normal place people time to/from on the ACC run. Plus make sure you plan your cornering lines too.
Finally I suspect the 2006 results on the SL Website are too fast - e.g. maybe the timer keepers at the top and bottom were not fully synchronised. Any time under 5:15 is pretty good and 5:00 better still. Actual times will depend on the conditions in any case.
Great advice Tony. Its a definite >90% of your maximum heart rate (VO2max)effort so a good warm up will be essential.
