Womens National series Surrey League Team - riders wanted

Are you thinking about starting racing? Ask about future events in here, find out what you can expect at them and who else is going so you can scrounge a lift off someone rather than riding the 30 miles to get there yourself!

Womens National series Surrey League Team - riders wanted

[quote]Hello Ladies,

I am trying to put together a women's racing team for the Women's Team series on behalf of Surrey League. The calendar of events is here:

http://www.teamseries.co.uk/70160/info.php?p=4&pno=0

If you are a Surrey League member and are interested in being on a team, then it would be great to hear from you.

If you are not a Surrey League member yet, then please join! Details on the website:

http://www.surreyleague.co.uk/howtojoin.htm

If there are any ladies that you think would be interested, please don't hestitate but to tell them.

We'd need to field 3 riders at any one race for the team to show. It is our intention that between Surrey League and London Dynamo, entry fees should be taken care of and we will be given jerseys to wear.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Charlie Blackman

I was going to pass this on but you beat me to it Paul.

Tamar and I did this for 3 seasons a few years ago (as part of Surrey League, and also in an Addiscombe team). It's a good way to experience racing over 50-ish miles against other women from around the country.

In the team series they have 6 riders to a team. (This year you can have up to 8 ) This means that as some teams try hard to get the 6/8 riders they will have some members in their team who are relative new comers to road racing, and so during the race various small pelotons form as well as the main peloton with the contenders.

What that means for anyone women wannabe road racers is that it's ok to turn up at these and you can have your own "race within a race" on the road. There will also be a stage race on in early May if you're interested. Always good fun.

I would recommend these - especially racing as part of the Surrey League team as you'll get to buddy up with other local racers, and it improves your road racing.
Contact Charlotte and put your name down if you're interested. Then just get down to some of the circuit races (Milton Keynes Bowl (currently running) Dunsfold, Thruxton, Hillingdon etc) for some practice runs. If you can cope with cyclosportives ( the ~100km ones) and 50 mile time trials you should be fine.

Anyway, I shall be putting my name down for it.

Cheers,

Maria
