Lifts needed for TTs

Are you thinking about starting racing? Ask about future events in here, find out what you can expect at them and who else is going so you can scrounge a lift off someone rather than riding the 30 miles to get there yourself!

Lifts needed for TTs

Postby Sarah_M » Mon Mar 31, 2008 1:12 pm

Hi everyone,
I am hoping to do some 10 mile TTs in the Summer (where I can fit them in with the family and after a bit more training so probably end May/beg June onwards) I don't drive though so can anyone offer me a lift (will share petrol cost) If so, I'll look on the schedule post to see which TTs you are entering and enter some the same.
Thanks heaps
Sarah

Sarah - where abouts are you based? I have a second bike rack that I can fit to the car. These TTs are often very early starts and I'm usually one of the first off (cos I'm sooo damn slow) so I tend to leave home before 5am  . Happy to help out where I can provided it doesn't mean me adding loads of extra miles on the journey. I'm based in Carshalton....hope to hear from you soon :)

Sarah I'm always happy to give people a lift if it doesn't require going all the way across South London in the wrong direction to pick them up (and I sometimes end up doing that as well, I must have 'mug' written on my forehead  ). I live in Beckenham and usually give Joyce a lift out as well so am happy to pick up from Bromley/Croydon area and elsewhere depending on where the course is.

My plans aren't completely sorted at the moment but work permitting I'm hoping to ride:

26/4 Catford CC Q10/19 - early start, back home before breakfast (almost)
10/5 Shaftesbury CC E2/10 - civilised afternoon near Cambridge but you may not get a start place if you don't have any previous times.
17/5 Lea Valley CC E2/10 - ditto
31/5 SCCU 10 G10/57 - early start again

rest of the season is up in the air at the moment but if you're interested in any of these or later on in the season let me know.

Expect I could probably help out too. No bike rack as I wouldn't put my nice bikes outside the car (they'd get cold for one thing), but the boot is cavernous and easily fits 2 bikes. It tends to be my only criteria when buying a car, bike storage inside it :D .

Thanks peeps :D I am in Addiscombe. I will also be an early start as I have never done them before so won't be too speedy. I can hold just under 19 mph on a turbo for an hour but have only had my racing bike 2 weeks, and after a gap of about 4 years with no cycling at all, am just gaining confidence on the road. I have no idea how fast I can push it there. My bike is cheap and cheeful and I can bag it if necessary. I'm geting the handbook tomorrow :D

I am looking a bit further on in the season as I want to do a bit more training and get a bit more confidence on the road first.
I am (provisionally) thinking of
June 21 G10/57
Aug 2 G10/57
Aug 16 G10/42
If anyone does end up doing these, I would be really grateful of a lift and will contribute towards petrol.
