Winter Series Races

Are you thinking about starting racing? Ask about future events in here, find out what you can expect at them and who else is going so you can scrounge a lift off someone rather than riding the 30 miles to get there yourself!

Winter Series Races

Is anyone doing any? I thought there were a number of people who'd planned on doing either Hillingdon or Hog Hill but I've not seen any results, bar George's win in the first Hog Hill race.

If you want to do some racing this year they'd be a good place to start and get a feel for it before the spring races start and the faster riders come out to play fully race fit. They'll probably be a bit more relaxed in atmosphere (while some people use them for tuning up) and a bit shorter too.

I had targeted a few of these but I have been on the bike about twice in the last month due to a number of colds and flus that I just cannot seem to shift. Real shame as was looking forward to having a few races at Hillingdon before the new year kicked in. Well, now we have the reliability rides starting as of next week, and hopefully if I am well enough I will do those. They end up being much like road races so will be good training, all depending on me shifting this latest bout. What a whinger hey.

Cheers

Just this minute renewed my licence so it'll be off to Hillingdon soon to get a couple of races under my belt and hope for a good result or two before the season kicks off proper.

A little less conversation, a little more action, please...

...I'll be there (Hillingdon) en masse with my new team, on Saturday...

Of course, in true sandbagging style, I have been sick over Christmas, so I'm not expecting a blazing start to '09!

Ouch, just cost me £41 for the racing licence with an extension to my membership so they run concurrently, I guess I'd better get out to Hillingdon fast!

You know the license is valid all year Sean, perhaps we'll see you at some other events too?

Hoping to get over to Hillingdon this sat now the hilly rides off. Getting a lift with Serge as long as he's feeling a bit better and can race. Will have to blag my way in as still not had my licence through yet. As you've said Andrew I'm going quite well at the mo so fancy giving it a good go.

I was planning do a few of these early season races, but my "plan" had a fundamental and very basic flaw in it which was that I hadn't been on the bike much, but have been trying to rectify that by doing a bit of training over the christmas break, even bought a turbo trainer as well as the rollers so will hopefully be making my debut around the end of Jan.

[quote="Sean Hogan - 何祥"]Anyone going to Hillingdon tomorrow and prepared to give me a lift? Will pay for petrol.

I am off that way tomorrow with Ant so if you want a lift, no sweat. Ant and I start at 12.30 pm so I was thinking of leaving Croydon at about 10 am to head off to Sutton and pick him up. That should give us time to sign on and warm up. I have track pump, tools etc so if you can get yourself and a bike over to croydon for that time the lift is yours. PM me if your interested. :?:

(you dont warm up on a turbo trainer do you ? as that could be an issue !)
