Hill Climbs - Where and what ya doin'?

Are you thinking about starting racing? Ask about future events in here, find out what you can expect at them and who else is going so you can scrounge a lift off someone rather than riding the 30 miles to get there yourself!

I'm gonna do the double, Catford and the Becks, might as well make a day of it. Are we London South district! I've got the forms and will send them off tomorrow, is that too early. Not done any specific training but might have a few goes up 'em at some point and the Legs of steel ride on Saturday should give the ol' pins a taste of the horrors to come.

[quote="mrP(Boonen)VT"]Seriously, is anyone up for a tandem punt at the Bec hill climb :?:

Paul, you don't seem to have been inundated with replies. I'm happy to give it a go. If you tell me you were hoping for someone younger/lighter/stronger/better looking (or even someone who had ridden stoker before) I'll understand.

[Of course, you will have been hoping for all these things, but you can't always get what you want.]

I really enjoy racing for an hour but 2.5 mins for the same entry fee  I like to get value for money out of my racing I spend just under 6 pence per mile in TT's

Beat that - £70 per mile (run) I'm doing tonight - and it's not even for charity!

Thankfully my employer is paying (and food & drinks are included)

One other question...Who do you make the entry cost check out to is it just Bec CC and Catford CC? Also cycling weekly said 3rd of Oct is the closing date for entry forms for the Bec or was it the other one?

Yes, and don't know - I go on 2 weeks before the race as a closing date which is a bit early but stops me forgetting. I'm not going to need to update any times before these so I just sent them in.

I see you're up for a laugh then.....not ridden a tandem before and getting up White Lane....but why not?
We'll have to get together for a quick practice ride.
What pedals do you use?

You could also put one in the post for the Wigmore event which is on October 5th. I am holding open until Sunday, so you would need to phone or email me before then to let me know that an entry is on its way. That applies too, to all of riders who are expressing a interest in Hill Climbs. An opportunity to get the feel of an anti gravity event before tackling the gut busters on the 12th.

See separate thread Wigmore CC Hill Climb details.
