Herne Hill Cyclocross Sun 17th Oct

Are you thinking about starting racing? Ask about future events in here, find out what you can expect at them and who else is going so you can scrounge a lift off someone rather than riding the 30 miles to get there yourself!

London Cyclocross League visits Herne Hill this Sunday. Any takers?

I think it's been nominated as the club champs.
(And now you get the trophy at the Club Dinner in January rather than having to wait a year)

You doing it Aodan? Had the Gorrick scheduled that day, wouldn't want to ride HH if there's no competition for the trophy ..

I'm not sure if I'll provide competition for the trophy but I'll be there too.

I saw you on the Haloween list Sylv, missed the boat myself and was too late. They say they're releasing some more places in a couple of days but not sure if I can do it now. Will check and may join you in pumpkin jumping duty if I'm free and manage to bag a spot.

My first cyclo cross race . . . and I'm still grinning :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

I was quite nervous (now there's an understatement!), but it was nice to see Aodan and Sylv at Herne Hill. Thanks to Aodan for help with my tyre pressure. Also good to have a chat with other girls on the start line and everyone was really friendly (even the guys passing were really polite).

Nerves went once the race was underway, and the fun started :D Jamie had positioned himself and Tao at the bottom of the steep hill, and as I "flew" down Tao cheered mummy on and informed me that someone had just crashed  This commentary carried on round the course, and seemed to be the high point of Tao's day  Boys!

Not sure of the results, but I wasn't last :D 8) :D 8) :D 8) :D and I even managed to passed a few girls. The time went really quickly, and as the race went on I felt more able to "push on" in places that had scared me at first.

Looking forward to racing again

Yes well done Lucy, a very busy race which must have made it a bit unsettling with all the overtaking going on! Thanks Jamie for the photos.

Good course, the grass didn't seem as horrible as usual. Tough starting from about 50th place back though with the gridding! I busted my foot failing to unclip whilst attempting to clear the climb on the practice lap, quite painful to walk now.

Believe it or not it was HOT!

Aodan and I crossed the finish line together

No Mr Green then? George managed to get in.

At this minute, neither of us has a cross bike, but we should both have one by then ; )

Dear all

This year we're bringing back Muddy Hell Halloween Cyclo cross to Herne Hill on Saturday 30th October (actually the day before Halloween!) in association with VCL. Herne Hill Velodrome and Knog.

Last year was a great success and it was only possible because of the support and time given by an army of volunteers, so thanks for last year guys!

Once again we're looking for volunteers to help on the evening as well as setup in the morning and on Friday afternoon (29th October)

Thanks to generous sponsorship from KNOG all volunteers on the day will receive:

- An event tee shirt (see attached)
- A one off "expenses" payment which will be in the region of £15 cash. (theres a set fund so actual amount will depend on final volunteer numbers)

Given that the Good Friday event has moved to Manchester Muddy Hell has become the largest event at the threatened Herne Hill velodrome and I'm sure you'll agree that high profile events are required alongside the amazing community work at the stadium to maintain it's credibilty and sustainability so we hope that you will support the event.

- Friday 29th October from noon: marquee erection, course building, course marking etc.
- Saturday 30th Morning to 4pm: Finalising course, general setup, sign on.
- Saturday 31st October 4pm onwards: Sign On, Marshalls, general help, results assistants (callers), bar and catering.

If you can help please email volunteer@rollapaluza.cc

Please forward to your friends and clubmates.

Thanks in advance

Rollapaluza Team
