[quote="Toks"]so whats your history then?
Pre July 2011 - could barely manage 2/3 miles on a mtb although I was mainly a swimmer (w= 82kg top heavy)
Jul 11 - watching TDF - thought this is cool, so
let's give cycling a go
Aug 11 - did a few bike exercise sessions at the gym - kinda enjoyed it
Sept 11 - bought cheap road bike - 2 days later rode solo to Brighton, then decided to join ACC, rode with J4F group
Dec 11 - prob in between 20s and TG standard
Mar 12- May 12 - no cycling for 2 months
Jun 12 onwards - tt events
Mar 13 - now 65kg
[quote="Toks"] Surely not every ride you do is a solo mission?
Well, since December 12 it has been, apart from one TG CR early Jan and another 20 mile ride with two agreeables to a redhill time trial in late feb. Personally, I don't mind riding alone because ultimately that's what I'm gonna be doing in a tt, so it's good practice. If I do any threshold/ sweet spot work, I prefer to do it in the tt position on the turbo as oppose to going with the TG guys where I'd be in the standard position. Plus the former trains my core more effectively. I have ( and probably speak for most people on the forum) limited time to train, so I try to make the best use of it, and keeping the training as relevant as possible to tt. And if that means going solo a lot of/all the time, then so be it. If I planned on doing RR, then I would join the TG group more often as those rides would be more useful to me
