Newdigate Handicap 10th August - E/1/2/3/4/W

Are you thinking about starting racing? Ask about future events in here, find out what you can expect at them and who else is going so you can scrounge a lift off someone rather than riding the 30 miles to get there yourself!

Last year we had a big turn out for this one as a lot of the course is on our club run.

Be good to get a few people out.

19:15 start.

Cheers

You were looking good last night Gavin, change your gears for next week so you can keep up in the sprint.

Cheers

I think Gavin was expecting some mountains with a 50 on the front and 29 back !

I tell you what that last hill felt like a mountain at that speed.

You were fine going up the hill, it was just as we crested it that you started to move backward a bit, oh, and when you got squashed between a rider on your outside shouting outside and the rider going up your inside shouting inside, I nearly fell off my bike laughing.

Cheers

Well hope to see you there Marek.

I am leaving work a bit early probably see the TSN mob down there maybe Simon H aswell.

Doesn't look like a massive interest from the addiscombe!

That was ridiculous.

I was struggling from the start.

Lost contact in the last 1.5 miles.

The elite boyz came past in the last mile and I tried to keep up with thier sprint but that was just a stupid idea. I was nearly sick at the finish.

Oh, well I thought it was really good fun. That course is quite good if you are feeling alright. We managed to stay away from the Elite riders and caught up with the other groups ahead. I had a go at getting away on the back section but went too early and could not hold off the pack. I did not have much left for the sprint and annoyingly one of the guys in my group who was hanging off the back in the first lap won it. Have to remember him next time so that I can put in a bigger dig on the hills when he is struggling so can get rid of him before the sprint.

Gavin that circuit is hard around the first part as it is all drags and small hills, I think your group had a few quite strong riders in it which is maybe why you found it a bit tough. Ah well, that is the handicap series over for another year, no placings for me this year but as I always say these races are great fun whether you win em or not.

Cheers

It was much tougher than last week.

90% of the time we were strung out 14 in a row because the guys at the front were pilling on the pressure.

There was no 2 across rolling rotation.

You guys must have been shifting to hold off the elites.
