Eastway Sunday 9.9

Good race today in glorious weather. There were about 30 people in the 3/4 race. Met Alex a Beastway regular who is also having a go at road racing.

Did some work towards and at the front for the first 1/2 hour, there were many mini-breaks of one to four riders, all brought back. Second half of the race I mostly sat inside the bunch. Went for one of the primes but was piped by an Interbike rider and Alex - who was doing impressive work all the way.

Last few laps were the usual fast/slow, tried getting a good position for the sprint which worked except it got really twitchy with 300m to go and I got pushed at the outermost edge of the last turn before the climb to the finish, got 9th and Alex 8th by a half-wheel.

Stats were about 1h12 riding time at 38.7km/h, av. HR 167. For those who are doing the club race and haven't raced there I'd say it's right between Hillingdon and Palace in terms of toughness.
