Who's gonna Try Cyclo Cross this weekend?

Are you thinking about starting racing? Ask about future events in here, find out what you can expect at them and who else is going so you can scrounge a lift off someone rather than riding the 30 miles to get there yourself!

Who's gonna Try Cyclo Cross this weekend?

Well this Sunday is the Addiscombe promoted London League Cyclocross round at PORC Penshurst.

Lets see if we can get a few more Agreeables racing round in the mud :D All you need is a mountain bike to get going, you can enter on the line and no early alarm calls with a 2pm start.

Carole gave it a try on Sunday and loved it, I've been doing the whole series so far and this is by far the most fun I've had on 2 wheels.

Running in the same vein - there'll be a cyclo cross training session on the morning of the race so anyone who wants to just try it out can turn up at PORC at 11am and have a free session with a coach.
Details are on a thread in the "General" section.

My bike is fixed so will be there. Hopefully, the legs will be in shape too. :)

I'm going to do a couple of races George, but not at PORC! I've made that mistake before and don't like the hill so will be on marshal/abuse shouting duty.

Sounds like fun, it's almost a shame that Granpaw Snoop is taking all the Snoops out to lunch (shut up at the back with the "you're always out to lunch")

Have fun

I've told Mark I'll be there to;
a) bring along the cake wot I have made
b) stand around in a flourescent bib

That coaching thing sounds good. In the few cross races I rode in the past I was completely hopeless at that jumping off and on the bike thing.

Penshurst is a really pleasant course as well, so worth giving it a go there and you'll get a good flavour of what cyclocross is like.

Carole, it'd be great to see you. A few other women are coming too.

Jon, I know what you mean you about the jumping on and off the bike stuff. Somehow, I don't mind too much missing a corner or overcooking the odd descent but I really worry about getting the off and on bit wrong - especially the jumping on :D

I wouldn't worry about getting on and off because there have only been 2 rounds so far with hurdles and most circuits are ridable, I've never yet thrown my bike over my shoulder, I always run along pushing it
