Are you curious...

Postby Andrew G » Wed Mar 24, 2010 9:06 pm

...as to what it would be like to ride a 25 mile time trial? A good step up from a club 10 to test yourself.

If you are then the perfect chance to try it when there will be plenty of Addiscombe club mates at the same event, and earn the club a point towards the Rawson shield competition for SCCU clubs, is coming up soon.

It's the Southern Counties 25 on G25/53 course which is near Horsham and uses bits of the dual carriageway used on the through and off, HQ at Broadbridge Heath Village Hall.

It is on 18th April and to enter you will need to complete a CTT entry form (can be found here, scroll down and click the download next to Entry Form)
You will need to send your completed form with a cheque for £8 payable to "Southern Counties CU" to the organiser, I won't put his address here as it's an open forum but pm me and I will send it to you. You need to send the entry in 2 weeks prior to the date of the race, so during the course of the next week and a bit really.
First rider will be off at 7am, hope to see you there.

Any questions about the entry form, what to do, what to expect etc just ask and folk will happily help.

Well done Andrew. I hope there are a few curious folk out there willing to give this a go. This was the first course I TTd on and it's about as good an intro as you can get.

The course is pretty open so you can see what traffic there is, and it can see you. There's a short stretch on single carriageway but not much. There's a bit of a drag hill around 1/3rd distance, just don't blow a gasket going up, keep something in the tank for the whizz down the other side. There are a couple of drags on the latter section (what goes up must come down mind), and the section from the final roundabout to the finish is a blast, even though it creeps upwards at the end, it's a nice pain by then.

Have a go...go on, try it, you might like it :D
