As many know Maurice runs De Ver cycles in Norwood.... go to http://www.pezcyclingnews.com to read a great little history and interview of one of Britains greatest and little lauded track riders.

I bought my Trek from him in 2002. Heck of a guy. I still see him cruising through Croydon after a long ride every now and then.

It's amazing the amount of crap that black riders had to/still put up with. I'd like to say it's better these days but I'm sure there's evidence against.

One thing I'd love to see, though, is all the kids out stylin' on their low-riders in Stockwell/Clapham/Brixton to get a crack at riding at Herne Hill. Some of them are supreme bike handlers.

One day I rode up on a guy on the Streatham High Street who was popping wheelies ... at 25 mph ... 3 inches from the back of a bus. Imagine him behind a derny.
