Sorted it, managed to find an unworn 13 - 28 in the shed made by BBB. Seems to shift ok onto the 28 with the normal mech so will stick with that. Should be able to get up anything now with the compact on the front and the 28 on the back.

Cheers

I did Biarritz to Barcelona a couple of years ago taking in all of the legendary Tour climbs over the seven days. I used a 12/27 on a compact & short cage. Whilst the 27 was boy for the job I wish I had something a bit smaller at the other end.

I've seen that Shimano do 11-28 cassettes for 105. Is this recent because of the new SRAM gearsets coming out or pretty standard and i've been oblivious to it?

I'm currently on 50/34 front 12/27 rear compact setup. Am I right in thinking that this would give a bit extra at both ends of the scale and a bit more flexibility, just with a bigger drop/increase between gears?

Would I need to change anything else other than the cassette? Was thinking of doing it when my current cassette needs replacing.

I've had a few occasions on some ridiculous hills when i've been left wanting.....
