Help required - not cycling related

Postby Amy » Sun May 02, 2010 8:25 pm

My mother did suggest I called this post damsel in distress...

Anyway, I'm planning to redecorate my flat on my week off at the end of the month and I was wondering if I could engage a helper or two to help me shift the furniture out of the flat/one room onto the landing/other room and then a bit of painting before moving things back in...

Now I'm off the week of 24 May so am looking for helpers over this time, either Sunday 23 or Monday 31 (Sunday 30, I'm helping at the 3-up). Of course if you are free in the week, I'll still be glad of your help.

And in return, my mum will be providing a buffet meal of her lovely quiches and sponge cakes (much better than mine  ) and I'll stick a few beers in the fridge 8)

Please contact me if you can help, thank you very much

It's my mum isn't it? She's not that scary, umm, well maybe  but her cakes and quiches are really scrummy.

Actually got one helper but I don't expect to get everything done in one day so if anyone else can help, I would appreciate it. It's not so much the painting as the moving stuff - I cannot expect my mother in her seventies to help with that though I'm sure she'd give it a go (she's just not quite as robust as she was even a few years ago...)

If your mum's cakes are even better than the ones you brought to the recent road race then you should get quite a crowd along to help :D

Thanks, Graham!

I'm hoping that two days will see the flat done!

Any requests on the cake/beer front?

hi Amy,

I'm doing the Pearsons sportive on the 23rd - but I'm off on the 31st so could lend a hand.. Of course being a weedy cyclist I'm not that strong so I hope your furniture is not oak or teak :)

Thanks, Brian! Mostly Ikea furniture and a couple of pine bits.

I've got a couple of helpers lined up for earlier in the week, so I shall keep you posted. The flat's only small, I can't have too many helpers unfortunately

Not quite sure what I'll do with the cat in the meantime...

I was just thinking that another person to help with the painting might be useful - anyone else able to help this Sunday? I think I was being a bit optimistic about the time scale...

I am told the cake is delicious (I know it is but I could be accused of bias) and so's the quiche (same again but mum put too much onion in for me...)

Oh do you do kitchens? I need a new kitchen or at least the old one made more presentable

Now I would pay someone to do that and to do the bathroom :)

Anyway, I've done all the painting myself so far - it's the moving the furniture around that I need the most help with.
